So i was using my sniper rokh and a poped some fagot in a megaton @ 200km ROFL. it was my alt but I was high as fuck and was like woot finally some one came to my gate camp then was like oh FFS. but yeah caldari ships suck except for the rokh

I read a review or two, and they said it was a MMORPG where you can mine or kill other people.  But I want to know how the HUD and actual gameplay work out.  For example, WOW is a 3d world where you click where you want to go.  Unification Wars is based on turns that regenerate.  EVE Online = ?

In a nutshell that's what it is, but it goes deeper.

Um, in EvE you play as a captain of a ship rather than a pilot I guess, they're called capsuleers. So you give the ship orders like keep at range, warp to, orbit etc, you can also move the ship manually by adjusting the speed and double clicking in empty space, but it isn't really useful most of the time.

And then you do what ever you like. Whether it be industrial/commercial like mining, hauling, ship building, courier etc. Or it can be combat orientated like missioning and ratting, and PvP combat tactics like gang warfare, fleet warfare, griefing, scamming, pirating, gate camps etc.

One of the interesting things about it is that its hard to break the rules unless using an exploit, or cheating in some way. That means if you can scam 500 mill off a guy, tough titties to them. Its a legit tactic and part of the game mechanics, whether carebears like it or not. Doesn't mean it is not frowned upon though, and you can land in trouble with their corp or alliance.

Watch some videos on youtube or something. Some of the Goon ones are good propaganda films but do show a side of Eve like fleet warfare mainly.

Everything is on one massive server so anything eve related happens in your world at your time. Here's a timelapse video of nullsex (0.0 sec) space that is player driven. Can see the shifts of power.



The economy is completely player driven and complex. One of the deepest games I've played, but can get tedious.

I think that may have been the BoB/ Goon war. Quite controversial but just shows how if you know the game mechanics, you can exploit them to your advantage (not exploit the game that is). It was actually nicknamed the Great War.

get the demo. dont ragequit after your first few days - its got a mental learning curve. give it a week, join the BF2s channel. join in on missions, maybe make a trip to lowsec.
