To answer your question, just like they did with disabled people. The child probably didn't even know what was going on. Wow, I mean....these guys aren't Freedom Fighters valiantly fighting against an Occupation in the slightest.

From a few Indy movies I've seen, it seems like it's a cultural thing.  Much like the Japanese portrayal in Letters from Iwo Jima where one day an official messenger comes to your door with a paper that calls you up to duty, I believe it's similar (obviously with different ideology) in many ME neighborhoods.

A movie that resembles what I'm thinking is "Paradise Now" which is the story of two friends (or brothers, i forget) who grow up in their Palestinian home and they aren't particularly religious or idealogues like we all think they are.  They become teen agers, get as much schooling as they can, work long hours to put food on table, etc..and by the time they're 20ish or so, they are conscripted by the religious nuts of the town.  If they accept the calling, they are promised that their family will be honored, fed, and taken good care of after their martyrdom..and that alone seems like a good deal...not even mentioning the virgins!  But if they refuse, they are then threatened with death on their family and therefore compelled to go.  Well in this movie, both boys go through with it, make their videos, get briefed on the plan (bomb a cafe in Tel Aviv or something) and one is scared, one is courageous.  They shave, dress, and memorize things to say before they slip past checkpoints and borders dressed like jews but with bomb packs strapped to them.  In the end, the courageous one bails, and the doubtful one prevails I think...THe courageous one tries to remove his jacket after second thoughts and it blows him up i think, while the other one is in a car with some jewish leaders and blows them all up i think..  Ok, i don't remember it well and I'm probably confusing it with another terrorist movie I saw! lol  No, I'm not a fan of terrorist movies..but my wife had free rentals at Blockbuster for a while so we watched whatever we could! lol

Anyway, I'm guessing she was promised many good things to her family, brainwashed or threatened alot, and off she went. 

But hey, I'm sure our guys killed a bunch of baddies this week, so hey, it'll stop soon, right since combat is the way to end such violent, vengeance based ideology!  /sarcasm

Didn't know they did that. But Japanese culture was also pretty fucked up too. So I wouldn't be surprised, but hey, look at Japan now

thats the thing....the japanese culture back then was the "bushido" crap...honor, death, family...that whole deal.
the indoctrination of muslims is similar to what happened in japan WWII.


at the end of the day, there are rich religious extremists who prey on people with no hope for a future...with nothing to look forward too, death doesnt seem that bad. especially when you will be "idolized" by your companions.

if they were educated, the rich extremists would have a much harder time winning them over.

but hey, im just a little white kid from missouri....nothing i say will ever change anything.
its a damn shame, thats for sure.

The difference is a Japanese wouldn't kill a Japanese, but an Iraqi is willing to kill an Iraqi. Do not compare the two, both situations although seems the same, but are very different.

But the US army now believes the girl was around 16-years-old.

There goes that story. Still sad though even though she's 16.

Holy Cows, it is almost like Islam is filled with crazy people that want to kill people in the name of their religion!

Of all the extremists, it would seem Islamic ones always take things a step further than the rest...

Salem witch trials anyone?  I'd gladly be blown up rather than burned alive...after being accused and falsely imprisoned, likely beaten, separated from my family..who likely suffers the same death and punishment.

THere's many cruelties mankind has suffered throughout the ages...most of which we probably have no clue of..I doubt the muslims corner the market.
