They do, via FMS and DCS. The "S" stands for SALES.

And Turq: The aid thing is part of diplomacy. Should we not engage in diplomacy with other countries? What if they ask for our help?

I'm not a fan of tons of foreign aid, but it has its place. There should just be MUCH less of it.
Again, if a nation wants our money, our people should get to decide via a referendum whether or not we actually give it to them, and there should be a clear explanation exactly how this money will be spent and why we are considering giving it to them.

Essentially, I want our foreign policy to be more directly accountable to our people's wishes.
No argument from me there.

Funnily enough, we've managed to avoid making people that angry by and large.  Having said that, the issue isn't what you'll do for us.  And what you'd actually do for us is send your armed forces over, because of ANZUS and (more importantly) because of the strategic implications.
Kinda nice not having any neighbors ain't it? Shark attacks are the only things you guys have to fend off.
And the Japanese...............

We do have neighbours, and they're alot closer than some of your enemies.

One of the terms of Israel's roughly $3 billion a year in aid from the US is that it will spend at least 73.7% on US arms. Apparently this is a new deal, previously is had to be all spent on US arms.

The US basically gives Israel 'US arms' vouchers in it's birthday card each year. The only choices Israel gets is to spend it on US arms or not recieve it.

The US tax payers pay to arm Israel with US arms. Israel supliments this with some of it's own money.

Thought about making a new topic, but I can just update here I suppose

A Deal has been reached, seems like people there are happy about the unease being broken, but the upshot (Hezbollah getting  more influence) doesn't sound like very good news to me (as per the original topic)

Lesson learned: if you want influence in Lebanon, start a militia and attack Israel occasionally.  Then, attack the spineless government.

Israel never should have withdrawn from Lebanon.  They really can't govern themselves.

Whut? .. are you kidding? Lebanon is a successful Democracy. They just haven't had the military might to put down groups like the PLO and hezzbollah.
