I'm thinking about getting one in case I want to SLI in future, but I've heard there are shitloads of bugs and things with the nforce chipsets. So can anyone just sumamrise all the bugs/ how serious and how likely they are too happen? Cheers

From my experience its not so much there are issues unique to nforce boards (appart from SLI obviously), its more like the problems you may incur in say an x38, happen more often with nforce, chances are though you wont encounter a problem.  With the exception of the 790i Ultra, stability has been a bit of a problem, especially if your overclocking.  I had a 680i, twice n both of them fucked me over :\

I (and I think most of the guys on here though), would recommend you buy an intel chipset unless you are dead certain on SLI, if your half n half id say the balance is still more infavour of Intel.

Am thinking of an X38/48 to go crossfire with those new 4870s, they look very promising.

nForce tends to have problems with RAM and overall stability, and Intel chipsets OC better. To squeeze it in one sentence.

As Bell said, only go for nForce if you are certain of SLi, if not, then P35/45 or X38/48

I fucking hate nForce, I'm never gonna get it again. Ever.

zomg so I take it you had a bad experience? Bell says he had both die on him as well...that's 3/3 so far. Has anyone managed a smooth SLI setup with OC? Surely the chances have to be pretty low to make SLI even viable, like I thought a lot of people did it?

Also appreciation karma spam.

Mmm, I am the one talking bad about nForce here, yet I have a 650i with no problems at all

SLi board, one card though.

Listen: ATI Radeon 4950/70 cards will arrive soon and the word is they are going to be CHEAP! So i would recommend getting 2 of those or an X2 version. Besides P35/P45 and X38/X48 are the win atm if you have C2D or a quad from Intel. So there you have 2 good reasons to go with Intel chipset instead rather than an nForce mobo.

When are these 4950's supposed to be out, and how much are they rumored to cost?

Apparantly ATI is pushing for some super aggresive pricing on these cards, I'm reading less than $200 for a 4850 and no more than $300 for a 4870.  Though you do have to consider that its almost certain Nvidia will have the quicker card this time again, it all hinges on by how much, but, hell if you can buy a 4870 and 4850 and crossfire them for the same price as the new nvidia card, there really in for it :\  Really interesting

I've had a couple of nForce mobos. They are very picky about the ram and the new ones have problems overclocking, especially with quads. The old nf4ultra modded to SLI clocked crazily though. The chipsets run very hot, you need active cooling on them. If you're getting a dual core SLI system with ram from the QVL everything should work nicely, otherwise get an intel chipset mobo
