yep that is the case. 8x/8x crossfire... not good. It will bottleneck performance. Thats why x38/x48 pwns this board easily.Bell wrote:
Whats the deal with crossfire on P45 btw? I keep reading that in crossfire mode it runs at x8 speed in each lane rather than x16 like the X38/48, anyone want to cast some light on this? Seems a bit shitty if it is the case :\

Mmm well its out the window for me then :\ I was looking at a dual 4870s as a potential upgrade (or even a 4870, and then a 4870X2 in august). I RMA'd my P35 DS3L and 8800GTS after some bad problems, am fine on my macbook at the moment but am in need of a gaming rig.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

edit: x38 and x48 have 16x/16x 2.0 crossfire support.
I concur..Sup wrote:
Well there you have it Martyn. X38 or X48 is the win. Panzer confirm plz.

So what is the point in P45 then over a P35 then? I was under the impression the whole point of forking out the extra cash for an X38/48 was for crossfire, if this board doesnt have that am kind of strugling to justify it, atleast at the prices I have seen.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

take a look at this X48 from asus. Without any doubts it is pretty much the best mobo for Intel CPUs atm.

Well its for those who don't wanna OC to the extremes. It has less connectors for example only 4 SATA ports. Basically for those who don't need much, just stability.Bell wrote:

But it's no where near as awesome looking. If I was trying to pick up chicks with my motherboard, I'd have to go for the MIIF.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

Some mobos have it integrated. (look at the left bottom corner)Jenspm wrote:

it is said to be released Q4 2008. Nehalems will be out Q4 2008 - Q2 2009 so X58 will be out the same time. Most likely Q4 this year.Bell wrote:
I take it X58 is a DDR3, LGA 1366 (or whatever) board then?
Any ideas on that's release, think I saw a pic of it on nordichardware not too long back, the green thing (I cant believe I just said that ).
Martyn
It might be DDR3 and DDR2. porbably just DDR3 since it won't be released anytime soon. Panzer knows more about the release date. I think it will be LGA 775 or maybe there will be a new socket thats still unknown. I would say LGA 775 so it can support the older Nehalems. (The will be old when this chipset is released).Bell wrote:

Looks like you're going to be stuck with sub-par processors for a good while yet then.The#1Spot wrote:
