Windows update is alerting me of an optional update for NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller drivers.  I know they are motherboard drivers, and I know they have something to do with SATA hard drives... but should I download this update?

I ask because I think I remember reading somewhere that an update like this one messes your PC up to the point where it doesn't boot correctly.

If anyone even knows what these drivers are or what they do, that would be helpful also.

i installed the update. nothing strange or bad happened at all.  it did, however, add my hard drives to the "safely remove hardware" thingy.  kinda funny you can safely turn off your hard drive.

It does that because sata drives are hot swapable.  It stops activity on the drive so it can be unplugged with the system still running.
