Going to get an fujitsu siemens L22W-11 in a moment. 1000:1 contrast etc, everything looks good, and only 170 euro . brb, going to pick up monitor from local PC-shop.

EDIT: lol sale starts on saturday, so saturday I'll have my new monitor.

I'm just not willing to spend 230 euro on an "zomg samsung l33tbrand" monitor if an fujitsu or acer will do just fine. It's the same as with the EVGA fanboys around here: stuffing PC's full of EVGA parts when someone asks for advice, sure EVGA is an great brand, but it's like their parts are made by god himself.

As for the monitor: yes it's an cheap one, and the collors might be not as good as the samsung one, but I don't care. I've had this supermarket monitor for 3 years now and it was fine: collors were ok, response time 8ms, contrast 700:1. And I couldn't see the diffrence in collor etc. with other monitors. And btw, the monitor I"m getting next saturday has 5ms/ 1000:1 so that's even better than I had . And it's like 100 times better then the 14" crt from 1993 I'm on now .

edit: And for an grand in €180 (€10 extra) in total I have the zero-deadpixel-policy, so I'm assured of a monitor with no dead pixels). + no shipping costs because it's from the local PC store.

I don't mind if you guys recommend me an diffrent monitor, as long as the total costs stay < €200. (shipping and dead-pixel-policy included if possible).

Well, as I said, it'll do if it's all you wanna spend. I'm on a small-brand 150€ monitor from 2004, myself, so don't call me a fanboy . Just giving some advice.

And the only personal attack I see is your overusage of the word "an". An egg, a train. A goose, an explosion. A hobo, an idiot. An alarm, an identity, an attack. A bomb, a drain, a door. In most cases, words that start with a vocal get "an", and words that start with a consonant get "a".

Meh, I'm dutch and I'm not studying english 24/7. I'm getting an eight (out of 10) as mark for english this year, good enough for me. And as long as you guys can understand me (which I believe everyone does, because I'm not talking like supah) I don't mind my wrong  "an" and "a" usage. I think you're a grammarnazi sometimes(like now for example), if I were english I wouldn't blame you for correcting me, but what you are doing is what we call "mierenneuken" (ant fucking literally translated) in the netherlands.

actually, if you look away from a/an your english is very good for a Dutchie

But just for the sake of it, the rule is VERY simple.

If the word starts with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u) sound, it's always "an".
If the word doesn't start with a vowel sound, it's always "a".



very simple, and can up your grade to a 9

...Back on subject, I got this monitor for £110 ~ €140 and I think it looks great, although it's advertised as 3000:1 contrast ratio, it says on the screen that it's 5000:1.

20" is too small. The acer (see my post somewhere above) has a contrast of 2500:1. How much am I going to see the difference compared to my old monitor which had 700:1? (monitor I'm going to buy now has 1000:1)
