Mysterious Teamkill

So there I was driving along in my AA vehicle, and suddenly I see the message
"You were killed by [a teammate]"
And sure enough, at the top left you see that he teamkilled me, only there is one strange thing:
I AM STILL ALIVE. I did not die. It is quite evident in the screenshot that I am very much alive.
So how did he teamkill me without actually killing me?

that's happened to me many a time. and sometimes it'll say [artillery] LockerFish and that's it. or just [Teamkills] LockerFish.

Funny you should say that, because that is exactly what happened a couple of times later in the same round.

I made a very strange teamkill,seems that I've killed someone by parachuting on his head.

I was very baffled,but it could only have happened through my jump on his head,which we all know is completely controllable (NOT!) while chuting.

Naturally,the noob punished. :-(

Not a TK but strange, last night I was playing as engineer on Dragon Valley. Laid two mines on the wooden bridge at the island flag near US base, then ran up to AA position to watch for heli. Sitting there i see 'you killed player a, you killed player b', so i think cool, they drove onto my mines. But in the top corner it said 'broncobullfrog(IGLA) player a' and 'broncobullfrog(IGLA) player b'. So without doing anything i killed two players in a jeep with an AA.

Thank god others have seen it! I thought I was having acid flashbacks! Stood there capping a flag on Mastuur when I got teamkilled twice, apparently, without any friendlies nearby (despite numerous requests) yet somehow I walked away. Strange glitch.

i have had points mysteriously deducted from me. i would be a medic, purely healing and reviving team mates with the occasional shooting to defend myself, after a few minutes i would check my score (its a bad habit of mine to check my score in game every so often) and under team scores it would show as only 3 (or some very low number) when i have been healing or reviving like a mad man!
one instance i had revived about 4 players and had about 3 heals point my team score showed up only as 1!
i hadn't pulled out any of my weapons or driven any vehicles so there couldn't be any team damage on my part.
weird bug if you ask me...

ah man same weird [Killed] glitch happened to me too, broncobullfrog. i had just spawned in Mashtuur as sniper and i see this enemy jeep with two people in it racing towards me. i think, aw crap, im gonna get ran over, but then it just blows up, and it says...

I've always meant to take a screen shot in BF2 whenever one of the following shows up in the corner:

[ARTILLERY] player_name
or
[Killed] player_name

without any player listed as the killer of the second player. I've seen my own name show up as the player "ARTILLERIED" or killed, not sure if it counts as a death for me or what. Since the game says [Artillery], not [ARTILLERY], for the commander's arty kills, I'm not sure if this is a bug, a little bit of code EA forgot to disable completely, or what. Weird as hell when you see it though.

Maybe EA thought it would make ir more realastic to have unexploded shells that only kill poeple when nobody's looking.

anyways I had it happen to me twice, i was running in karkand and It said he TKed me, yet I was still running, and then I got shotgunned in the face.
