The city is broke.
Why?

Hack Union activist give political contributions to bastard elected officials who give the Unions budget busting pensions, which are sometime 90% of the pay they received before retirement.
Bankruptcy court judges do not receive campaign contributions. They can void ridiculous contracts the Unions have strong armed the politicians into.

That knocking sound you hear is the knees of the parasites who have been feeding like bloated pigs at the publics slop trough, aka city employees.

The jacked economy may soon have them feeling the same strain I have been reeling under for the last year and I say good! Bring the bankruptcy on bitches! The fucking cities go broke paying these parasites and we soon may have common sense restored to public " servants " wages and pensions.
Let these rat fuckers get out and get a real job. Public employee pension benefits are unheard of in the private sector and the end result is no money for roads, police and schools and these bastards do not care. As long as they get theirs.

It CAN'T be the unions' fault. Unions are infallible and questioning them in any way makes you a corporate whore.

America has too many people, I've decided.

Its true, but not really a relevant response.

This is beyond fail.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned that fact (beyond the obvious newspaper name) that this is California we're talking about?

Because it isn't just limited to Kalifornia.

Unions can be corrupt, US unions are very corrupt. Even in the US union corruption is speck in comparison to corporate corruption. The idea that unions are even a minor blip in comparison to business donations, influence and corruption in politics is so utterly laughable.

Remember, the US is a business run society. If you think the government is crap and and the country is going downhill, blame business and change it rather than barking at its shadow.

Not just in America.

What happens here is you get to the top of your department in the civil service. You get £65 000 a year. You stay in your position for 3-4 years and retire on an 70-80% pension (which is protected by the government unlike private pensions) After this guy retires another moves up and fills his shoes for 3-4 years before retiring. Now if you have 30 odd top positions in the civil service and there is a new 50grand pension created for each department every 3-4 years that equals a heavy burden on the tax payer.

When young people ask me about employment or their career I tell them all. If you want to sit on your ass all your working life. Be accountable to no one and want to retire at 55 with a large guaranteed pension for your years of doing fuck all, join the civil service at 18.
