Theodore Herzl is recognised as one of the first advocates of a 'Jewish homeland'. In hindsight, 60 years after the birth of Israel and all of the carnage that has entailed, where in the world do you think would have been the best place for that homeland? Where would the Jewish people have been most at peace, where would they have been able to prosper? What was the most sensible destination for the Jewish people (given that said homeland is/was almost entirely immigrant-based)? Please give reasons for your choice.

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
France. We saved your ass, now let us have some of your land to give these people.
Sadly anti-semitism is expressed all over the world. I do think though that "a Jewish ethnic homeland in Palestine" and "a Jewish state" are hard to separate as one and the same.
One of the more interesting proposals was the British Uganda Program which was planned to give a section of British East Africa to the Jewish people as a homeland. Nowadays it's know as Kenya.

Fuck Israel
In hindsight its a difficult question because to create a new state you have to take land from the people who rightfully own it first. Which is wrong. I don't think two wrongs make a right in any case. The only people who you could have rightfully take land from would have been the Germans and Austrians and to a lesser extent the Italians.
Although I'm sure the Jews didn't want to live in a land were Millions of their people were Butchered. And I am sure allot of the indigenous German people would still be blaming the Jews for loosing WW1 and hence WW2 for decades after the war.
To answer the OP, they should have given them Sicily. Its far enough away and the locals would have loved a fight. The IDF versus the Mafia..........id pay to watch that. jk
But it makes no difference, a fictitious book says they had to go to Palestine or we are all fucked so they had to go there to ensure not only their survival but that of us all.

We don't exactly have a very salubrious history on the old 'treatment of Jews' front. Not to mention the fact there are less than 1000 Jews here for an overall population of 4 million. I have never seen or met an Irish Jew.DBBrinson1 wrote:

Their 'historic' homeland doesn't seem to be very practical, on the evidence of how they live in what amounts to a perpetual state of war. Hence the question. When you giving Texas back to the Mexicans? Will I need a visa to visit the Sioux nation?lowing wrote:

Jews can lay claim to Palestine, because they fought for it and kicked the shit out of the Muslims (20th century). Just like the Muslims kicked the shit out of the Romans/Jews that lived there, in the 7th Century. All's fair in love and war. Or.....whatever...

This will come in handy..lol

How about a nice chunk of real estate surrounding Berlin? That would have been poetic justice. Yes, they would have been surrounded by people who hate them and resent having their land taken away from them, but, oh yeah, they're in that exact situation now. The differences are 1) the Germans wouldn't be suicide bombing them and 2) the Palestinians had nothing to do with the Holocaust.
My point which you largely missed is using the 'fact' that where your ancestors once relieved their rectums thousands of years ago as the basis to claim the right over a piece of land is retarded and downright dumb. A load of white Europeans having had their balls stomped on by the Nazis lay claim to Palestine having buggered off up North for an eternity for in effect these reasons....while the rest of the world turned a blind eye to their bullshit as they did fuck all to stop their slaughter.Mek-Stizzle wrote:
