I've never done it so I don't know what to look for, I have 512 at the moment and just want to bump myself up really.
I was thinking maybe a cheap 1gig (by cheap I mean cheap, but very reliable) but another 512 would be fine really, it's not like I need it.

So I was kinda hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to what I should buy and where from

(I know, I know, I haven't stated what ram I have now so how can I expect you to find me some ram, well the answer to that is, I don't know where to get that information from or what I would be looking for anyway, so someone will have to tell me)

Well all you other countries have fancy unheard of RAM, but here cheap, reliable DDR2 is Transcend, Kingston, Apacer and whatever Elixir is based on.

DDR1 is pretty much exclusively Hynix, and I've had no outlying problems with any of the brands listed.

I am personally using Kingston and Hynix right now.

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php will tell you if you're DDR1 or 2 btw. I'll let the Yuropeens help out bag the shit out of those brands, and point you towards a shop from here, as I'm off to bed.

Be careful with the sun while you guys've got it. I want to see a pristine flameball tomorrow or shit be flying.

I've looked at a few sites which sell ram and it all is roughly the same price  (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=83214)

So what about this?

Inconspicuous Thread Bump

(common techies, I kinda really need your help on this, it would also be nice to just explain (or link to) what to look for when buying and how to know the ram is right for your computer)

open up the thing that says mainboard give them a picture of its name. you could also look it up on google and see what ram is compatible.

ok, in light of the ram above £31 (inc. shipping) I looked around for cheaper prices on the sites for the UK here (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=54612)

I then thought I would just check if play.com sold ram since it has free postage

Kingston KVR400X64C3A/1G Valueram Computer Memory 1GB PC3200 DDR 400MHz 184 Pin
£25

Computer Memory 1GB PC3200 DDR 400Mhz 184pin DIMM
£17

these 2 are the best deals I could actually find
(now as long as they are actually compatible with my mobo (as I'm still not 100% on my newly learned leet ram buying skills))

which should I get?

I guess since the ram is so old its more expensive then it should be. Value ram isnt always the best but it depends on the manufacturer. Id recommend the first one both are compatible but that one has a name backing it. What do you plan on using your comp for what did you want to spend.
