Both courses interest me. I know AP Bio is harder than AP Enviro. Is AP Bio mostly memorization?

No.  It's mostly massive packets of shit you'll never complete.

Don't do it to yourself.

lol

Yeah, a lot of people that took it this year said it was hard. Conversely, AP Enviro seems to be easier and hey, it still gives ya credits if you do well on it.

Any other opinions?

Well, what do you plan to do in the future?  It all depends.

Also, in our school, we call it Envio-Bio, or Vio-Bio, for short.    Better name tbh.

seems like biology would be the best bet. i loved that class in high school.

If by better you mean lamer

I plan on computer science or some sort of engineering (probably computer or maybe even the awsm nuclear engineering).

Then why take AP Bio or Environment? Just take AP Chem.

...Biomedical engineering is what I want to do, so I myself would go for AP Bio.  EnvioBio would not help me.

But for you....neither really helps.  Take the easier class.

edit: or the above, which is a better idea.  AP Chem or AP Physics, if you have it.

Because the first two interest me more; and I'm leaning more towards computer science. Programming doesn't have much to do with chemistry OR biology.

@Haffey I don't think I can take AP physics. I can't remember, but I think my school only offers the Physics C (whichever one is the harder) which I can't take.

I can also tell you, that should you be able to take AP Chemistry, don't.

Nothing but memorizing a ton of shit you'll never need, unless you want to be a nuclear physicist.

You said you might want to go into nuclear engineering, so nuclear chem in AP Chemistry.

Anyways, I have heard that AP Bio is hard. Haven't heard anything about Environmental, don't know anyone that takes it.

Aye, but like I said I'm also leaning a lot towards computer science. I don't think I've got the math for engineering real fuckin' annoying that my performance in middle school has essentially affected my entire high school career.

Yeah, my school doesn't offer AP Physics, but Honors Physics is supposed to be hard.  I'm taking it next year.  *gulp*

Good luck :S

I really wish I had good extracurriculars or sports or something to put on my applications. Fuck all those perfects who get straight As and 5s, full varsity shit since freshman year, over 9000 hours of community service, and are artistically talented

Wot? AP Bio hard? I actually considered it to be a relatively easy test.

From what I've heard about APES (I didnt take it cause one of the assignments was to bring in 25 bottles per week for credit), if you take/took Bio, you'll be set for about half of the stuff covered on APES. I would personally take Bio since that interests me more, but yeah.

Dunno about Physics, but I can tell you that there's maybe only like... one question on the AP Chem test regarding Nuclear Chemistry. The Nuclear Chemistry that you need to cover for the AP test is ridiculously easy... just a lot of adding/subtracting.

just apply to community college as a senior and take the real courses at night.  I placed out of 6 credits of english classes by taking them as part of my honors english class.  it was not AP stuff - i actually went to the college and took the classes.  there might be age limitations but you can get waivers.

if you are studying CS or engineering, skip bio.  take chem, physics, and math math math.

of course if you are interested in bio, knock yourself out.

Regarding extracurriculars:

= join the track team.  practically anyone can letter in that sport.  you pretty much just have to show up and try
= join the debate team.  you already are doing that on these forums - why not get credit for it
= if you have summer jobs or work while in school - this is great to put on application also since it shows dedication
= volunteer at an old folks home one weekend a month to read to the elderly.  it takes like no time at all and is very satisfying to help these people out - some of them don't have any family.
= try volunteering your service with your school itself.  some of my friends did that and worked as custodial help cleaning up the school in prep for fall term or did yard work around the grounds.  might even get paid.

none of these involve huge amounts of time or are extremely taxing.  but, they look good on apps to colleges.  get buddy buddy with some of your teachers so they can write some letters of recommendation for you.  Your pastor, priest, rabbi, or Imam can help with that also.

good luck

I'd do ap bio, it's a bit more useful, and i imagine enviro doesn't count as a lab class so you won't be able to use it for GE lab credits at college

if they'd had it at my school i would've done it, but if there's a ton of work it'll be a pain

take ap bio...that way we can compare notes on trackr haha

but i have heard at my school that ap bio is just below the difficulty level of ap chem (which is insanely hard, supposedly)

Whoever told you that is a dirty liar.  AP Bio was hilariously easy--I took it as a sophomore in high school and got a 5 on the exam.

Also, take whatever interests you more.  I took 7 AP classes, and actually used 5 of them toward my degrees.  The other two granted credit, but were merely 'elective' and served no purpose.

That happened to me as well, I didn't do well on the algebra pre-test in Middle school so I couldn't take Algebra 1 in 8th grade, therefore couldn't take Calculus...

I know! It also screwed me up partially in college now.  I had to take College Algebra first semester and now Pre-calculus.  WTF I did this shit in high school...

Should have been in Pre-calc to start off then I wouldn't be stuck in summer school taking pre-calc 2.  Well I will still graduate in 4 years with my double major in CS/Math according to my advisor.
