Prime Minister Gordon Brown has narrowly won a House of Commons vote on extending the maximum time police can hold terror suspects to 42 days.
Thirty-six Labour MPs joined forces with Conservatives and Lib Dems to vote against the proposals.

Holding suspects for 42days will alienate Muslims. It also is an erosion of liberties. The bill was passed by just 9 votes which were sold to Gorden Brown by Northern Ireland's DUP party. The same party who called for and got internment in N.I in the 1970s. It is now widely recognised (even by the British intelligence) that internment was the largest recruiting Sargent the I.R.A ever had. Turning them from an almost broken fragmented organisation into the most highly motivated, organised, murderous terrorist organisations in the world. This is not quite internment but it will led the Muslim population down the same path it led thousands of young impressionable nationalists in the 70s.
