Why didn't they just make an electric motorbike? It carries the same number of people and weighs less too. It is equally as safe. And it is the added bonus of versatility because you can ride between cars.

Yet another failure to add to the pile, only way that'd ever be even a slight success is if it cost about £3000 or less.
There are other, much better, faster cars, which have a longer range and look good while they do it.

The one car that got it right BTW is the Tesla roadster (expensive i know but the basis is there for cheaper cars to be made now), 120 mile range, 0-60mph in about 4 seconds looks shit hot and has a good top speed. Why not put a bigger chassis on that and make a decent family car or an SUV, or anything for that matter, instead of some retarded 4 wheed bike wannabe that looks like it'd topple over at the first sign of a corner.

Take a look at sale, and you will notice that "normal" looking hybrids, such as the camry, accord, the suvs and what not actually don't really sell as well. The design may seem dumb (and it is) but it set the car apart.
With the price hike that comes with them, most the time you could buy an old CRX and years worth of gas for the same price...With the cost of moving from one car to another, and the premium on new technologies you are not really saving much money.
All those batteries present their own environmental problems, and gas is likely still being burnt somewhere along the line...so its not really that much greener..
Mostly its just people who want to show off that they drive a hybrid, and they aren't looking to buy one that just blends in...They want people to KNOW they are driving a hybrid/electric car...
most people don't seem to realize that electricity in this nation is produced by burning coal and oil making it as bad, or worse to drive an electric car than it is to drive a gasoline powered car.

The fact that if it runs out of power, it takes longer than a couple of minutes to get it going again makes it a lot less convenient. That said though, I'm for alternate sources of energy. The rate at which we're using petrol is ridiculous, and OPEC has the world on puppet strings.
