I tried to add COD4 as a Steam game, but it won't allow me. It rejects the key. Btw, my Cod4 is a retail version. Can I add it as a Steam game and avoid using the DVD when playing?
you'd have to either A) install a no-CD crack or B) mount an image of the disk (see gooners' thread)
AFAIK it's been posted before and you couldn't. CoD 4 multi is CD-free anyway.

My thoughts exactly, but you can't. I was trying to do the exact same thing, adding CoH to my Steam account since they sold it anyways, I figured it would simplify patching/reinstalling. You can't add retail games to your list ... only as non-steam games I'm afraid.

Only a few games can be added to steam by their retail CD-key. Prey, Red Orchestra, Lost Planet and Sin Episode 1 are some of the few non-valve titles you can add.
