I sat on Flea's (bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers) lap once. RHCP was on tour in Rio, where I happened to be staying. This was all when I was a really little kid though.

My parents took a photo of it except I'm crying because 1) "who the fuck is this guy " and 2) he had like a shitload of tattoos which made him look scarier

edit: I also know a somewhat famous writer for the Washington Post (and her kids): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Priest

I was at the Office of State Revenue for work a few weeks back, and it was the day before the Manchester United - barcelona second leg semi final, and I was wearing my United replica shirt with "Scholes 18" on the back. I was filling out some forms and there was a tap on my back from one of the employees. She said

"Hello. That is a Paul Scholes shirt you are wearing. Are you a United fan?"
"Yes I am, and Scholesy is my favourite player"

and then she produced her ID badge, and showed it to me, and said "Well I'm his first cousin". The badge read 'Caz Scholes'.

And then Paul Scholes scored a screamer that night. I like to think I played a part.

At the golf club i work at, there is a member who is on the European Tour: Alan Mclean.  I talk to him every once in a while when he isn't playing there.  Why he is a member at a rather low key, older member-based golf club is beyond me, but we are happy to have him

thats about as exciting as it gets

edit:

-Went to school with Sam Gagner (NHL) and i currently am in school with his two sisters.
-Was a caddy for Joey Koshir (sp?), he played for the Red Wings and was there assistant coach for a while as well.

If you were sitting on his lap, I'd HOPE you were a little kid.

Are you serious? Fucking love RHCP .

And I've met a few this past month in New York - met/saw (kinda) Ban Ki Moon, current SG of the UN; John Thain, CEO of Merrill Lynch; and a few other people. At the actual UN building. It was pretty cool. Dunno about anyone else though.

It wasn't in THAT way, it was more like on his knee. I can scan the photo (have to dig through countless photo albums... lulz, pre-digital photography).

For real? I thought there were like, two different clans/dynasties of "Kims." If there are, I have no clue as to which one I belong to.

Well, I believe all Kims were descendents of the king.
I may be wrong, though.

None Really.

But I did go to L.A. when I was 15.  Stood next to Judge Reinhold in LAX.  Drove down a highway in LA during rush hour.  It really wierd staring out the window with slow traffic both ways, and spotting random famous people in thier cars alot of them too.  Mostly it was "Hey its...........that guy!" type celebrities, but still wierd.

I did get to do a little work on a gun for Ben Affleck for some movie.   I did the finish work on an M1A rifle for the new "Magnum P.I." Movie.  The Serial Number is "Magnum 10" if I remember correctly.  That was kinda neat.  I was put in charge of doing the custom grinding and polish finishing work on the rifle Reciever and a few other small parts.  I worked on a few different famous people's guns, but don't really remember who anymore.  Maybe Ted Nugent was one of them. I think so, but I am not sure.

I guess that's my closest claim to fame is tinkering with thier pistols and shit.  One of Golden Guns From "Face-Off" just sits on a rack outside the Custom shop, fucked with it a few times during break...with permission of course.  It just sits there fucking RUSTING and gathering dust.  Kinda a shame really.

I used (back when I was 10) to be best friends with Eric Cantona's son back when we lived in Barcelona. Lost contact with him when we moved though. And I've met various members of the British royal family now and again.

Well, both of my Great Grandads from my mothers' side of the family were scientists. One created the formula for Brylcreem but sold it .

The other was an engineer/scientist. He invented an air compressor to be used down in the coal mines. Actually got proof of this.

Also, met and talked to Gary Sprake. (Ex Leeds United goalkeeper of the '60's and '70s) Played in FA Cup Finals and the Champions League and everything. Got a few autographs, including a signed biography and a picture of me with him from years ago. My dad's friend is friends with him.

One of my best friend's is Colin Farrell's cousin but as he freely admits himself he doesn't know him that well. I live in the same neighbourhood as award-winning Irish film-maker Lenny Abrahamson and see him quite often in the local supermarket. One of my dad's old friends was drummer for Eddy Grant & the Equals when they first formed a band but they got rid of him because he couldn't really drum! I used to work with Paddy Mulligan, the former Ireland soccer International and Chelsea player, he ended up working as a security guard for a while despite having been a pro footballer who played in a UEFA cup final win over Real Madrid in 1971! The drummer in the band I used to play in left our band to join a band called Berkeley who got a record deal and went off to Chicago and made an album with Nirvana producer Steve Albini, but they're not exactly famous. One of my tutors from college was telling me about his days in the film industry and I found out that he worked with Stanley Kubrick and John Boorman, among others. He is still very good friends with John Boorman, who now lives in Ireland.

EDIT: Oh yeah, my friend, who lives in New York, plays on a Pool team with Mulder and Scully's boss (the guy who used to smoke in the shadows all the time) from the X Files.
