Best place to shoot a bird for the kill?

So as far as hunting with an airgun, whats the best place to shoot a bird? (Pigeon size)

I mean I would think towards the head, but if you hit it in the throat it might take a while to actually die...

Im looking for the best, most humane way to shoot a bird (inb4dontkillitthatshumane) so it has little time suffering

I googled and didnt find anything specific

You shoot birds with a shotgun...anything less and there is too good of a chance you won't kill it in one shot, and you don't exactly aim for a spot on the bird with a shotgun.

Like I said, you shoot birds with a shotgun. I would not shoot at birds at all with an air gun.

My cousin (1st cousin once removed or something like that...he's much older) once killed a squirrel with a rifle that was bought for him after acknowledging that he had to eat whatever he killed.

No, actually my airsoft gun hits about 380 fps with a .2 gram, that will definately not kill a bird.

Im using an airgun, not an airsoft gun. it shoots about 1000fps with a (apx) 7g lead pellet (sharp tip)

a few people drove by laughing

and as far as cops, my dumb ass friends got the cops called on them playing by some apartment buildings... Cops came, they ran up the main road (why, I dont know)... Cops picked them up, they didnt even notice my friend in the bush with the Ghillie until he walked up...
They admired the guns, told them we couldnt play in public because people dont generally know what airsoft is... told them to play the desert or a field for airsoft/paintball and let them all off with nothing put on their juvenile record
