Well you should easily be able to see every planet up to Saturn as well as the big dipper (and no doubt Sirius). Have you ever seen the ISS pass over? That's pretty cool.
on very clear winter nights, I can see the major stars.

I've never seen the milky way
I can see the bands on a clear night. I moved away from the city lights in October and the difference is amazing. I just took a video. No tripod.. I just did it taking out the trash. Serious shakin camera syndrome going on . I'll post it in a sec.

How do You find Jupiter? And which one is Venus? I have no idea. The red one is mars right?
I never knew I could see Jupiter.

Here is a good free open source program to help identify your night sky.

Make sure you set your location. Mars is red but don't confuse it with Betelgeuse, which is also a large red object (In the shoulder of Orion). When Betlegeuse goes SuperNova it will be brighter than the moon in the night sky. Of course it might have already gone Supernova and the light just hasn't reached us yet.

You should be able to see every planet out to Saturn without any equipment.

Cool

We have a hot tub in the back garden area and on clear nights it is spectacular. Frequently I see Orion's Belt and many satellites, Mars and sometimes Venus in the very early morning. Always been fascinated by astronomy - I remember the first comet I saw, I was like "wow". Best thing I saw was a sky illusion of the moon when I was in Melbourne - it the moon appeared to come over the horizon at incredible distance, almost filling the bottom of the horizon. It was pretty incredible.

Had the pleasure of seeing Saturn through a telescope now in our conservatory. It was pretty incredible!

I've been focusing on Jupiter now. These last couple months are the first time I've been able to see it with my new telescope. I used to have to go out at like 4 am.. that was a pain. The trade off is that Saturn is now gone . I'm thinking about modding a webcam for my telescope. From what I hear it's actually pretty easy.

I've asked this question before and never really got a clear answer. You know when you see all those colourful nebulae and shit, are those the real colours? Like, if you looked through it with a optical telescope with no fancy shit, would it actually look like that, in those colours?

Because NASA always fucking do false colours. I bet space is over 9000 times more boring than it actually is...

Bennis you plonk. Redshift and blueshift has not much to do with the visible spectrum. It's got to do more with the wavelength so you can measure the velocity and shit.  I remember asking my teacher back for PHY3 astrophysics if that means you see objects coming towards you as red and away as blue but he was like "no" and then explained some shit which I've forgot.

Yesterday, I saw a big-ish moon when I was going out. Not as big as that Athens pic, but still sort of big. Well, that's my story.
