So Looks like I have adopted baby ducks until animal control arrives (tomorrow).

My dog was deliberately attacking, mocking, and humiliating these baby ducks in my backyard and scared 6 or so baby ducks away with their mother so they left, big deal.

Then about 40 minutes later I heard a bunch of chirping and I went outside to see whats the matter and it seems that 3 stayed behind scared, shocked, and hopeless. I put them in a cage and went on a search for their mother after an hour of searching they we're gone.

So I need some advice on how to keep these lil suckers alive over the night.

It's 85 degrees right now and I'm wondering if what methods should I keep them warm over the night (i put towels in so they could huddle and keep warm but I'm not sure if that's enough.)

and they won't eat their fucking grass.

any help is appreciated.

A small box with newspaper in the bottom + a blanket of some sort over them should keep them warm.

And what gave you the impression that ducks ate grass? :\

Breadcrumbs should do overnight... I forget what I fed them when I was in the same position

Yea, just give them some bread to nibble on. Blankets over top of them and a box with newspaper. Don't use a towel you like, though, unless you enjoy bird shyte.

That's pretty cool, actually.

Feed them some lettuce, bread crumbs and fresh water, of course. That should keep them alive until animal control comes.

And if you can, keep them inside so they don't escape because they'll almost definitely die.

before you hand them over to AC make sure they aren't going to euthanasize them. then all your work will be for naught. if thats the case keep the suckers till they grow up and call you daddy and shit.

You should keep them and save them for christmas/ thanksgiving.

Go to a feed store and get some chick feed. When they get larger you can give them the bigger corn feed. When the holidays come you'll be rewarded with a tasty feast.

But I would raise them, too.

It actually would not be that hard. If you have space in your yard, you can set aside a small plot and fence it in with chicken wire (cheap stuff, should be able to find it readily and for a good price at WalMart, Home Depot or Lowes). Then like the poster before me said, just give them bird feed like corn and other stuff. Or ask Animal Control.

I've owned ducks for some time back in California. They ate insects, cockroaches and crickets, and bird feed. They made great exterminators.

-Insects for food. Bird feed if you've got any.

-Towel now reserved for the ducks to keep them warm. If you can, place the towel so it forms a sort of donut they can keep warm in.

-Try not to have the AC on in their room if it's cold. Still, if it can get warm, have a ceiling fan running at medium.

-Place a disposable surface on the ground around their place of living. If they get out, it can get messy. And try to place the food in a bowl that will not float too much in the ducks' pool. It might get wet or spill over.

Thanks a lot guys you have all been helpful.
But looks like I'm going to have to take care of them since animal control does want to euthanize the ducks.
I am to try my luck and go the to the riverbed which is just a walk down my house and try to look for their mom, I doubt it though.

Well good luck with this, they'll never actually think of you as their parent though, that only works when your the first thing it ever see's as a parent figure, as they've allreadt seen their real mother it won't work for you.
