Also for anyone wondering, my family does have an immigration attorney working on this... I'm just too impatient to hear what he has to say.

I've only been to America for holiday and as far as i can tell they think letting you into the country should be as hard, long, uncomfortable and awkward as possible.
get married to an american chick
It is. My application was received in September, and they've just now approved it. It is very expensive and lengthy... no wonder there are so many illegals.Rorscarch wrote:

Regardless it's getting me one step closer to becoming a citizen

There's no difference between Chilean and Argentinian. You're all the same Mestizo Spanish speaking Catholics. Not saying that in a Racist way, but there really is no need for all those different Spanish speaking Latin American countries. There's no language, Ethnic or Religious divide. False lines on a map for no damn reason.
so the scottish, english, welsh and the irish are all the same?
and thats not entirely true. argentina has more people with straight european decent. 10 percent of the dominican republic is white, the rest mulatto. nicaragua has a bunch of indian/slave mixed people. mexico doesnt have that many people of african decent. peru is nothing but indians.

Eh. There are some dialect and cultural differences, but I do have to agree that Chile and Argentina are pretty damn similar.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Not their histories and shit obviously, but my cousins that live in Argentina (my dad lived there for over 9000 years which is why i was born there in the first place) are pretty much like my cousins in Chile.

Difference being, we speak Welsh in Wales, Irish in Ireland, English in England and the Scottish speak gibberish.God Save the Queen wrote:

It's harder here in the UK to become a citizen, isn't it?
First you need to live in the UK for 5 years
Do an exam about the history of the UK bla bla bla
Apply for the Indefinite leave
Get the Indefinite leave
Wait 1 year
Apply for Citizenship
Wait 1 year
Get the Citizenship and British passport.

They actually speak different languages. Well not anymore. And they're all in a single union so it is one country, and there is religious divide between the Irish and the British (Northern Ireland and all that) so the boundary between Ireland and the UK is a religious one. All I'm saying is that most of Spanish Latin America seems pretty homogeneous and so I'm wondering why there's so many seperate countries.God Save the Queen wrote:

Nope, you only need to be either;r'Eeee wrote:

A) Muslim
B) Polish
And you're guaranteed to be allowed in.
Political differences, historical differences (who got conquered by the Spanish, who didn't), and waaaaay back when, major cultural differences in the native populace.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Ill be damned if I understand what a person from argentina says in spanish, they dont speak spanish. they speak chich chach
rEee, you have to do a bunch of paperwork for US citizenship. Lots of waiting, probably good to have an attorney. Then you get called up for an interview where they ask you about your background and give you a short US history quiz. If you pass (you just need to get 6 out of 10, and most of the questions aren't that hard) then your application is approved (sometimes it gets delayed) and you arrange for the oath ceremony where you pledge allegiance, sing the national anthem (they provide the words for all of this), and swear the oath of allegiance.
i had to go through the same process..huuuge pain in the ass. Good luck
You're a foreigner?
well, you seem smart enough, I hope all goes well
