I want to get it done. I've heard they only laser one eye, and your other is suppose to correct itself. Not sure if thats true though.

You need to be old enough, until your eye sight settle down.
I had the PRK back in 2003. Can see 20/19...or 18..can't remember but it is better than 20/20 apparently. PRK and LASIK are drastically different. Virtually no pain with LASIK..PRK...? lol.. Imagine having sand in your eye 24/7. Luckily, they gave me percocet..
What was wrong with your eye lids?Ty wrote:

I just wear contacts. I can handle the thought of them peeling the cornea of my eye off and shooting lazars into it.

my dad had it a while ago, said it improved his eyesight, and nothing went wrong.
I heard they also do it one eye at a time, incase they fuck up so at least you have one eye left in the rarity that they do fuck up. And then, hello giant lawsuit.
Unless you have to sign some contract where they tell you that you can't sue if they fuck up

Well, I'm hoping that if I do make it in to pilot training, they'll do it for me.
My dad had both his retinas re-attached by laser surgery

I'm scared of eye surgery. I dont like shit near my eyes, except for my glasses. I hate getting eye drops; can you imagine how much I'd hate having some doctor pull back a flap on my eye so a laser can zap it?
That said I'll probably do it. I don't really mind glasses, but things are just easier with perfect vision.

My dad did, for cataracts. I dont really wanna go under the knife for all sorts of reasons=(
My mother had horrible eye sight. She wore glasses most her life.
Then one day she decided to have some laser eye surgery.
They zapped those things so that she has nearly perfect vision now.

I'd like to get my vision fixed. Having had glasses a lot of my life, they piss me off so much - whenever I sweat, eat hot foods, or anything, it becomes such a nuisance. Contacts weren't that great for me either because I got them when I still was in Track/XC and when sweat got into my eyes, it was kidna hard to resist rubbing your eyes. Plus, never got used to the feeling of having hard lenses in my eyes.
That said, even if I want the surgery, I think I'd still be a bit scared about it.
Oh yeah, and one of my friend's mother had LASIK (I think) on her eyes since a few years back, quite strange seeing her without glasses after so many years.

You have to be 20/50 or better (uncorrected) before entering pilot training, though.ThaReaper wrote:

The FDA website on LASIK clearly states: "Before undergoing a refractive procedure, you should carefully weigh the risks and benefits based on your own personal value system, and try to avoid being influenced by friends that have had the procedure or doctors encouraging you to do so."

It seems the rules are hazy on that, because I swear I've seen pilots with glasses and shit. And in this day and age with all these computers and shit, unless you live a farm life it's pretty hard to keep perfect vision (I managed until very recently, bf2s killed my eyesight , thats right, bf2s, not doing coursework)FEOS wrote:

damn u guise
But I'm guessing for things like the Air Force, you need to go in with perfect eyesight
You have to have good vision before you are eligible, BF2s did the same to my eyes, and I am starting to get worried. Once oyu are in however the eyesight can go and you can stay. Im just trying to hold out another year or soMek-Stizzle wrote:
