So i get there on time, and me and my friends saw an RAF man coming in in the morining, so i thought, yeah, cool got this guy. I get there, and its this BIG navy guy. So he said, so Andrew, you want to be a pilot? I said Yes, and he said what sort, so i said RAF.

And instantly, he was like: "Why don't you want to join the Navy?" "Why do you want to join the RAF?" "Name all of the RAF planes." At this last one i was like "What? All of them?" and he said "Why not?"

So i named about 8 before he realised i was gonna say them all.

So anyways after that, it was just the basic stuff, apart from him asking me where i train and who with, and im like "I don't know!!!1!"

So anyway i think i did good. But thats not what this thread is about.

It is, should i actually join the RAF? I'm not asking for yes or no, i mean, whats your opinion of it? Do you think i should walk down to the careers office and get someone to come over like he said to do if i'm intersted in it, 'cause my parents think i might die or something.

How old are you? I wouldn't suggest even discussing joining with a recruiter until you're 16. And when you DO go, make sure you have a memorized set of questions you're going to ask him.

If you want to do it and are passionate about ti, then do it. If it makes your parents feel better, try and get some stats on RAF deaths. Pilots are usually fairly safe.
