Now that cocky Djokovic is out, this is going to turn into a very interesting tournament.
Marat Safin, I think, will go very far.

Federer seems comfortable so far, but so does Nadal. Favourite, according to press, is Nadal right now; but we will see - I think he is amazing, but Federer is still the perfectionist on Grass.

As for the womens, Ivanovic JUST got through; it was disappointing to see her in such a state of mind, kept missing balls and hitting badly. I want her to win, she's beautiful and really good.

I'm guessing a Nadal/Safin/Federer final, and a Ivanovic/Williams/Sharapova womens final.

Cocky? Djokovic is one of the nicest guys in the game.

I'm not sure about Safin, he's so erratic, hell he even had his flight home booked for today cos he wasn't expecting to get through. On his day though, he can beat anyone. But he hates playin in the wind, which he is likely gonna have to do again.

For me federer is still favourite, his grass court game is perfect, and although Nadal is catching up, there is no way he is the favourite. Federer has gone 5 years without losing a match on clay.

Hope Murray goes out soon, he's got a disgraceful attitude, unless he's winning he just moans and blames everyone else for his short comings.

Federer is the favourite by miles. He's the expert on grass. I'm more of an astro-turf man myself, having won several tennis tournaments

He isn't favourite, not according to most commentators and some tennis players :
http://www.rediff.com/sports/2008/jun/19borg.htm

Yeah, but remember Bennisboy, Nadal just won Queens, and he won it comfortably ( the sets were close, but when it came down the last points, he won clear out ) and he is much more powerful than Federer.

Federer simply isn't favourite because of the humiliation against Nadal on clay, and the REALLY close Wimbledon final last year. Nadal has improved massively on grass, whilst Federer can't improve...

Not saying Nadal will win, but Federer is not "favourite by miles".

Marat Safin is always tipped to do well, but never does. But I do think he is a good player and I would like him to win. Sadly though, I think Federer will win, again. Nadal can't match him on grass. Grass and clay are SUCH different surfaces, you almost need to play a completely different game.

In other news, Mint Sauce will be at No.1 Court, Wimbledon, SW19 tomorrow.

Really?

Imagine, years from now, when some kids are looking at a pic of this, they see some guy who stands out in the VERY middle of some huge crowd, eating strawberries and cream, and its you!

Can't match him? Did you watch the final last year? He matched him and outplayed him for 2 sets.... I think it's just a question of experience, and Federer has a lot more on grass.

I didnt say he was the favourite by miles.
Federer can still improve, you can always improve.
Nadal might be more powerful, but due to technique, Federer's forehand is just as fast, if not faster. Plus with less top spin and when he flattens it out it jus skims through the court.

Also @ your point to mint sauce, that means federer outplayed him for 3 sets

Utter destruction on Nadals part. Brilliant effort. Murray didn't stand a chance.

I find it sad that everyone comments on how "tired" he was after the Gasquet match, as if trying to find an excuse for the only good British player losing in Wimbledon... he lost, end of... there was no excuse, Nadal beat him.

They mentioned it a few times but they're not trying to make excuses. I don't think anyone would say that if Murray was fit he would have won...

Yeah. I don't like Murray, tbh. He's arrogant.

Stamina is part of the tournament, it's a part of all sports, being tired isn't an excuse for sports and never will be (well unless you're given a ridiculous schedule compared to your opponent).

Federer will win. He was near perfect against Ancic today. If Nadal wants to get close to Federer, he has to improve the speed of his serve, most good players can just destroy it, so he is lucky he is a very good recovery player.

What are you talking about? He serves mid 120s, federer's average first serve this tournament has been 120mph.
No-one "destroys" nadal's serve, the amount of spin and movement on it makes it very hard to attack it, he's hardly been broken at all.

Safin federer should be an incredible match tbh. If Safin keweps playing attack tennis the way he is, I could see it being close.
I was at Wimbledon for his match against Wawrinka, that man is a beast, when he hits the ball it just blurs past

I actually know exactly what i'm talking about pennisboy Nadal has a clay serve, and on clay, speed means nothing, it slows right down when it hits the court anyway. He serves exactly the same way on grass, and is lucky to hit 120. When he was playing Gulbis, which he was lucky to win, he was getting quite a few 1st serves in the 90s, which is fucking terrible. Gulbis was raping them back at him. (I have no idea how you rape a tennis ball either..)

Nadal just needs to make his serve faster, and slightly more effective against hard hitters, and put less spin. You can't have both power and spin, power is better. Then, and only then, will he be able to match Federer and beat him.

In other news, give Ernests Gulbis a couple years, he will be another great. You heard it here first.

Hahahaha, that comment shows precisely how little you know about tennis.
Bennisboy clearly pointed your bullshit.

Most good players can destroy it? He has dropped 2 sets in the WHOLE tournament. Murray couldn't break his serve, Gulbis couldn't, Djokovic couldn't ( Queens ) , Kiefer couldn't.... I have no idea where you came out with such bullshit, but you clearly aren't watching the tennis.

And again, your bullshit about Gulbis.... Nadal was lucky to win?! He lost first set and then beat him straight out. You have no idea what you are talking about, because even though Nadals serve is a clay serve; it works incredibly well on grass and even the commentators said so. His game against Gulbis was not the best - but then he proceeds to improve his game and wipe the floor with both Kiefer and Murray in straight sets. His serves against Gulbis were not the best, but did you even watch the last 2 matches? IF the player did return it, Nadal just powered it across court and won the point. I think Murray took 7 points off Nadals serve in the WHOLE game. I have no idea where you are coming up with these facts; but you clearly have something against him.

Since when the fuck have you been a tennis expert? Every single commentator and ex-tennis champ on the wimbledon TV has been commenting on the effectiveness of Nadals spin and the amazing power and accuracy he gets on them. How about you go out and tell him that? You seem so sure of yourself.

It's encouraging to hear those two young kids reaching the semi's of the Junior tourney.  Both about 14 YO I think.  So maybe just maybe in 5 years time England will finally have a Wimbledon champ again.  I bet you Scotland get there before England though.
