Gulbis did actually break his serve, I know this because I was THERE. And yes, most players can murder the serve back, including Gulbis, and if you had read what I had said afterwards instead of letting the red mist descend, you would have realised I said that he IS A VERY GOOD RECOVERY PLAYER, and can get the shot back.. I never said the serve doesn't work on grass, just that he needs to improve it to beat Federer..
