So theres this woman at work - shes 50. VERY nice, VERY radiant personality, very good looking (better looking than a lot of the girls my age).

We talk a couple times a week, and she talks about her daughter a lot. She's 21, and according to her "such a genius and so creative" (typical mothers doting on their children I guess).

Today she gave me her business card of an "art studio" she is trying to get started. On it was a myspace address... what struck me out was the name of her studio had a drug reference in the name! Later, out of curiosity I went to the site and through that I found her personal myspace page.

What I read on there was just... hilarious. She is a super goth/emo freak, and her page is full of swear laden rants about meangingless stuff. She talks about how much she likes to cut herself... all sorts of stuff that just contrasted so much with her mother.

It was just hilarious... and a little bit of a let down. I had hoped her daughter would have been like a younger version of her... oh well.

Am I a complete ass for laughing at goth/emo girls that think pasting a "WTF" label to a necklace is art??

I don't agree with the more extreme views of life some of them have, however, alot of people who dress in such styles actually don't hate life as much as the stereotype portrays.

As it goes, I'm not of such fashion or music style, I've got some pictures of myself in the pictures of yourself thread if you really care that much.

So yeah.

Post pics of the 50 yr old and I'll make my decision

Alright Mr. Sunshine. The point of my story was to laugh at goths and emos. The contrast between sweet nice mother and daughter that cuts herself was funny to me.

Thank you. I think it depends on whether you think Goths/emos are fun to laugh at.

I had friends in High school that tried to do the whole "I'm a punk, no goth, no emo" thing and it was hilarious seeing guys with those HUGE pants trip over themselves trying to act cool.

Its like, "I'm an original so I am going to dress like my friends and whatever my favorite band looks like."

My favorite is the types that say, "I am an artistic intellectual," without actually saying anything intelligent or doing anything creative.

And yeah, when I wrote it I just saw the myspace page and wanted to call up all my friends and laugh about it, but can't until later. So I posted on here.
