Okay, before I reformatted I got pretty decent FPS when recording all the time.

After I reformatted I can record fraps for about 5 minutes at 50 FPS (Full size @ 1280 x 1024) with no audio, I'm able to play as if it's not running at all except for a stutter every 2 minutes or so (Guessing due to a new file)

Anyway, after 5-10 minutes the FPS drops to 20 and the in game FPS goes amazingly bad, rendering it impossible to play. If I turn fraps off after that, the game quality is the same as it always is.

The HDD is very new, purchased just a few days ago. WD 500 GB Sata.

What's causing my FPS to drop so low? It's fine until then, there's no other events triggering it (I'm not alt tabbing or running another app)

Dunno, but did you defrag after reinstalling everything?

Does stopping then starting Fraps (recording) make any difference?

Nope, I decided to do a long boot Post BIOS, then reinstalled the latest drivers.

Think that's solved it, seems to be going okay now, even able to reach 60 FPS. Thanks
