Wanted a Beagle too. But got a couple of cats from a rescue place instead. Only times its not worth it is when they catch something, like this MASSIVE Magpie this morning when i was eating cherries. Blood everywhere, and it was still alive for about a minute, then it gave that final twitch and went still.
The cherries was a nice touch. I've got a new a new bedtime story for the little ones.

My cat was chewing on a mouses face this morning as I went into the garden.

Pleasant little bastard, he then proceeded to lick my toes

Rizla cost me £350,fully ped and papers (I hope to bredd her and get ££££££'s back).

Advert for her was in the local paper (dont need to travel that far)

For christ sake get the pup insured as soon as you get home, vets bills are very costly.

Either Alaskan Malamute or Czechoslovakian Wolfhound. Both are medium sized and both need good exercise.

Ig, umm..I know its a dog thread, but you should really consider the point that Kmarion is trying to make.  Rescue a dog...
Look, I rescued a 3 year old male cat, that had been very mentally and physically abused.  He was wild.  We had to watch him pretty close around the kids (he's 20 lbs...) because the previous owners little girl (about 4) was running Iddy (the cat) insane...pulling his tail, ripping chunks of fur out of his back, the works.  The parent did nothing to intervene.  We took the cat, then and there.  With the parents blessing mind you...

Point is, Iddy Bitty was crazy, seriously mental, and paraniod as hell...to the point of random attacks as you walked by.
1 year later...
He is an incredibly loving, calm, well adjusted cat.  He allows my kids to handle him freely, he returns the affection, and he has now 2 more housemates.  And we trust him totally now.

If you can rescue and re-educate a cat...you can damn sure do it with a dog.

You should really consider it man.  There are too many without a home to finance a breeding operation of any kind.  Clean, nasty, or otherwise.

i was VERY lucky to find my dog at the humane society.
she was just over a month old when i got her.....full bred black lab, with THE most beautiful coat you have ever seen. i kind of feel bad, cause i dont hunt, and i can tell she would make one HELL of a bird dog.
she is just over a year and a half old, and she is the best dog i have ever had. we learned sign language (well my version of it lol) while i was training her, so most of the things she does, i only need to make a hand motion, and she will do it.
i do have to say, a black lab is one hell of a dog.....but like i said, it was luck, nothing else.

just a note: my dog was adopted, and i couldn't love him more.

ig, you won't regret adopting a dog as long as you show it love.  if your dog feels love he'll project it right back 20fold.

I found my beagle, she was thrown out of a car on Thanksgiving on my street, we took her in and have had her ever since. She had 8puppies which we gave away.

Beagles are great dogs, their bark is not bad, and my dog hardly ever barks. ( much better than the damn dachshund next door.)

edit: lol @ Karma and days I have here 33333.

Psh, lame. Adopt one from the humane society. They aren't always crazy, I wouldn't get a dog from anywhere else.

1. They're cheaper.
2. You're doing something good (rescuing it).
3. From my own experiences, I wouldn't get a dog anywhere but the pound. Every dog I've had from there has been the best ever. It seems to me that pound dogs, just like people, are more "wise" because they've experienced more shit. They also seem more loving, appreciative, and loyal because they've seen the other side.

Ig you really should adopt a dog. Don't pay hundreds for a pure bred that "needs" to have the best of everything. To adopt a perfectly fine cat is free in the UK, at least, our 2 were, and they WERE young, 4 months or something. You could make a difference in a dogs life, they are perfectly fine, healthy and (probably) won't attack you

Just joking about the attacking part.

Aye ig. Like I said, if you want a purebreed, look for a rescue organization that specializes in that breed. The animals they have are usually very much in need of someone to care for them, be it because they were abused or because their old owners simply couldn't handle a dog.

Well your wrong there tbh jord, alaskan malamutes are one of hte biggest and strongest breeds, they officially count as a giant dog.

i have a german sheaphard/alaskan malamute cross who looks like a wolf. He's really affectionate but really inquistative and wants to know what everything is and play with everyone/thing. It makes him a right pest at times when he walks up to another dog whilst wagging his tial then punches them in the nose. It bloody hurts too, his paws are like shovels (he's hit me in the crotch before whilst trying to get my attention...it worked.

Alaskan malamutes are great dogs but they're very big, very strong and need alot of excercise (they're meant to pull heavy sleds all day so they havealot of strength.

they're also the biggest of the huskies.

EDIT: malamutes also argue with you *funny as hell* and make a noise like woo woo rather than barking, most of the time *they'll bark to tell something to GTFO their garden*

He somehow knows i live in the attic room with the window overlooking the garden, if i'm inside he looks up at the window and calls me by very loudly going "WOO WOO WOO" etc... until i see what he wants.

very smart dogs.
