This was the previous topic: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pi … 7#p2155057

Decided to make this thread in the hope I might actually get this shit working, I miss flying around and blowing shit up.

Now, right now, I have installed BF2, no patch. I can join games, within a few seconds though, I get kicked for "Inadequate O/S(Operating System) Privileges." Also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled BF2 3 or 4 times and then patched it to 1.41, when I do this, I can not join a game because of and "Invalid CD Key." Not sure why I am getting this message as the game is legally purchased and I have never had a problem. Now, I am running Vista 64 Bit, it tells me that the game was only tested on 32 Bit Operating Systems, I doubt that is the problem though, as I had been playing this game for 3 weeks with no problem on my new system with Vista, and randomly, the one time I started up the game, I got the CD Key message.

Please dont bitch about Vista and tell me to go buy XP.

I know for the "Inadequate O/S(Operating System) Privileges" message, that's a PunkBuster problem.

No its not, thats a UAC problem as Im on Vista too. You need to run the game with administrator privileges.
Right click shortcut --> Compatability tab --> Check the "Run this program as an administrator" box.

That will stop that message appearing

CD key error is where you have, for some reason, corrupt game files. Try the manual uninstall method for BF2 and for Special Forces: that worked for me when I had that exact same problem with SF.
(note that those links dont tell you how to uninstall AF if you have it installed too: AF is a seperate folder in the registry that you should see following that process: delete it too.)

Well I mean punkbuster is the reason the message appears. Vista's UAC settings won't allow it to connect.

Seriously, it is not vista's problem. People without vista should stop attacking the operating system.

First, go download this http://websec.evenbalance.com/downloads … bsetup.zip

That is a program that allows you to update punkbuster which is giving you the inadequate OS message.

Make sure you didn't patch Battlefield 2 before installing Special forces because special forces would retardedly patch battlefield with its older patch, rewritting some files and screwing the game.

The message about Battlefield only tested on a 32 bit system is not an error message, it shows you the message by default if you use any 64 bit operating system including XP x64.

Try running battlefield as administrator if things don't work out.

Vista is piece of $hit!!!
When i bought new computer (8 months ago) it came with vista so the first thing i did is install BF2
when i went to play i was globally banned from every server...so i contacted punkbuster and after all that crap that they told me that i was cheating bla..bla...bla... i told them to go f8ck them selfs... (they never provided me with any info about my ban no SS no log no nothing)
So i bought new copy of BF2 reinstalled with new cd-key and joined the game, next thing i was kicked  same as you...  after i was kicked for some driver something ... second later i was GUID banned again...
So vista and BF2 is 2 motherf8ckin buggy sluts... which will only make you spend money on them again, again and again to gain some pleasure...
Dump vista get xp....and bf1942

OS is no longer a problem, its the CD Key.

Also, why should I buy a new key, I already bought it once.

if you patch the game to 1.41 with Vista the Serial encryption gets "@%%#^" "because serial encryption was introduced in patch 1.4"

follow these steps plz!

Sometimes a conflict in the updated files can prevent the game from properly identifying your CD-key. Usually, refreshing your CD-key will resolve the issue. Note that this will only correct the error if you used the same Windows account to install, patch, and troubleshoot the game. If you have switched Windows accounts at any point it is recommended you uninstall, reinstall, and repatch using the same Windows login.

If you have Battlefield 2

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)
If you have Battlefield 2: Special Forces

Click Start.
Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your Battlefield 2 CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.
Double click on Battlefield 2 Special Forces folder.
Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your Battlefield 2 CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.
note: do not use your Battlefield 2: Special Forces CD key.
Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)

Solution 2

*********************************
play your battlefield 2 in the original account. (Where you started when you bought a computer) THats it. Try it. If it doesnt work try reinstalling the patch and the game.

Solution 3
***************************************************

--( Make sure you have all of the numerals/letters typed in correctly. View the FAQ to see if they mention it.

--( If all else fails, contact them with proof of purchase and they will give you a new CDKEY.

--( Make sure you have recent patches and versions of the game.

Now Im in the ergc folder, the only thing in there is something titled (Default), now I click modify and can modify the name, like change it from (Default) and erase the data in it. The date in it now is:
x9392 with a shitload of numbers and letters after it. Should I erase that all and then enter my CD Key with x9392 then the key with no spaces?
