The only possible reason I could see for using this is that is absolutely necessary to have that six inch height adjustment in order to perform better. Otherwise, a person can move faster than one, and will be no better on one than off of it.

What if its teaching them proper stance? I mean keeping balance on a segway while trying to aim and shoot is a challenge.

Segways are awesome. My brother got to ride one all through Belfast city, lol. Unfortunately they are too fast for the pavement and too slow for the road (30mph)

It just looks like they're using them to practise stance and balance really. Can't imagine them using them as transport to respond to a situation.
Segways are like Steadicams to a certain extent...they remove the natural judder you would have when walking or running. A segway would allow you to have steady aim even while moving.
