We've all seen them. Most of us have been part of them. These topics in D&ST that go on for pages and pages, with some debate going on forever until no one else but the two people most involved can even stand to look at it anymore. There have been dozens of them on gun control, Israel/Palestine, the US, Iraq, privacy, religion, racism and whatever else strikes our passions. Most recently it's been the guy who shot two burglers thread.
I've gotten into a few of these arguments myself. I can't remember a specific time that I've turned someone to my side, but I know that it's happened. I do know that BF2S has changed my mind on the right to bear arms, but don't remember who it was. Once you get old like me, your memory goes to shit.
So I guess I have two questions here:
1. When, if ever, has someone changed your mind after debating in a thread here?
2. If the other person doesn't see your side, do you think it's because they're close-minded, or because you didn't represent it well enough?
