When July 4th rolls around, everyone in the USA celebrates their country and takes great pride and honor in it. They send off spectacular firework shows, have their flags whisking around everywhere, and even paint themselves the stars and stripes. Americans are probably the most patriotic of all people.

But 3 days prior, Canada Day arrives. We have a few beers, have a good supper, and watch TV. Some shitty firecrackers go off, and we have little Canadian flag pins on our shirts. We don't even really recognize our own country's birthday. We go to sleep, and wake up the next morning as if it were just another day and nothing had even happened.

I don't understand how citizens of the USA can get so excited and celebratory on July 4th, but us Canadians sit on our asses and ignore everything around us on July 1st.

America probably has the craziest National/Independence holidays, in the west. But I don't think in the world.

It's probably because no one gives a shit about Canada, not even Canadians. America on the other hand, we're kind of a big deal.

In my opinion, St Georges day should be a fucking bank holiday. Ever year, we are the only house to put a George Cross flag in the window, and we have a barbeque and some drinks, and my parents have to book holiday off from work. Most people aren't even aware when St.Georges day is ffs.

Yeah, USA pretty much owns.

4th of july in marathon in the keys consists of either going to the beach or the sandbar during the day and getting wasted. Then at night watching the fireworks, then getting wasted again afterwards at someones house and shooting off $1200 worth of mortars and bottle rockets out of shoulder-fired PVC pipe rocket launchers.

Amen brutha.

I actually went to watch the parade this year(not in Vancouver, though, I was in Abbotsford, a small city 60 miles away)

And all it really was was just advertising, like srsly...

They first had the city officials, then The prospera crew(just 2 SUV's) then some cheerleaders, then a band, and that over and over for an hour.

The biggest highlight was that a horse made a LINE of shit like right across the path(where everyone had to walk through it) and the pooper scooper walked right past it.

Canada has it's own day?

Canade needs to make more noise. Right now, Canada just... Is there.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

You see this shit is the reason why Americans are probably the most widely hated people, because of this kind of attitude.
I notice they are always very quick to put down Canada, thing is, Canada is a superior country.

17th of May in Norway is overrated...it's hyped up like hell before it actually happens but on the actual day it usually fails miserably..

It was actually only fun when I was a kid

Hummm, weird. I never knew that the rest of the Canada didn't even celebrate the 1st of July. I knew that in Québec we mostly don't celebrate it because we don't really feel Canadians...but the rest of the Canada feel this way also?

Lol, the only reason Ontario acknowledges Quebecs existence is so every kid 18-21 can walk across the border and get alcohol
