Yer right, Braddock, I do lean towards giving more latitude toward the cops, soldiers, Israel etc.........for one very good reason, because groups such as these are always supposed to play the game within a set of rules against people who do not, and are expected to win. the fact that they are also human and risk their lives so we all can sit back and critique them when we have never been in their situation tends to make me feel for their plight more than the people they are trying to interact with.

We expect cops to deal with the assholes and scumbags of the world daily so we do not have to. I am not inclined to judge instantly against them, but to instantly give them the benefit of the doubt. I think they wanna go home at night as well.
So a similar position to your attitudes on race?

Guilty until proven innocent...'nigger' until proven black person.
Nope, I feel the cop should be innocent until proven guilty.

Not really sure where that came from Braddock, but if you wanna address what I actually said feel free.

but to respond to this latest attack................I have no prejudices towards races, I have social prejudices only.............I see someone sagging, walking around town in dirty clothes wearing a wife beater, looking and acting like a fool, be them black or white,  I will pre-judge them, perhaps I will be wrong, this is my flaw....It has nothing to do with race.

Do you think that my attitude toward the dead criminals would be different if they were white??

Andrew Hanlon 'shot seven times' by US police

"Relatives of an Irishman killed by police in the US state of Oregon viewed the body and said he was shot at least seven times. Andrew James Hanlon’s brother-in-law said the 20-year-old had two gunshot wounds to his left arm, three wounds to his abdomen, one on his thigh and one in the back of his shoulder. “It was definitely not grouped in one area,” Nathan Heise told the Statesman Journal.

Mr Hanlon was shot and killed late Monday evening by Officer Tony Gonzalez, who was responding to a reported burglary in progress. Mr Heise said Mr Hanlon would come banging on their door at times in the middle of the night, and they would let him in to sleep. The Heises speculated that Mr Hanlon took a wrong turn Monday night and started banging on doors on a different street, scaring residents. Someone called police, reporting a burglary, and one or more officers confronted Mr Hanlon, Mr Heise said. Mr Gonzalez is on administrative leave during the multi-agency investigation, which is routine."

I'm not going to speculate as to what exactly went on here because not all the facts are in yet but I remember times when friends of mine have drunkenly knocked on the wrong door on the way home...they've never been shot to death though!

NOTE: I acknowledge that maybe there is more to this story and am not presuming innocence or guilt for either party.
They probably mistaked him for Cameron and have read his posts on this forum.

2 weeks ago out in hillsboro -suburb of Portland- we had a guy get shot by a burgler when he entered his house.  Cops get a call by scared people and they are jumpy for a reason.  The cops just don't run around looking to kill people so it is wise not to make them fear you when they try to arrest you.  I am sure he did something that made the cop shoot him in fear and I could put 7 rounds in a person before they hit the ground easy so the number of shots mean nothing.

No one is sure whether he was armed or not. Police have refused to confirm or deny if he was armed.
That's what I thought. Why then are people here saying he was unarmed?

Would have responded sooner but I've been busy celebrating Independence day!

Your attitude towards the cop should extend to the victim also. Cops are far from infallible. How would you feel if one of your family members was gunned down by a trigger happy cop who panicked and misread a situation? Would it please you to think of all the people reading the news thinking 'that scumbag got what they deserved, that cop is a hero'?

I'd like to reiterate at this point that I am reserving judgment and am not automatically presuming innocence on either side.

Oh for fuck sake. If he had a gun/weapon then that would've been the first line in the News Article, or that would've been the first thing the cops would've said. (I saw a post on here saying the cops wouldn't say whether he was armed or not) - Twats, any cop anyday of the week would instantly say he was armed (if he was)

I mean, let's stop tip toeing around the real deal here like a bunch of faggots now.

I wanted to say that.

If the cop can't handle a drunk guy, he's in the wrong business. I'm sure, no I KNOW that cops are trained to deal with situations/threats without resorting to their firearms straight away. If what this cop did, was normal practice, you'd get people being killed all the time. But you don't, because it isn't normal practice.

B. I won't resort to stupid stereotypes about the Americans because many of the American people on here are very nice people...so in that case I won't say anything about Americans being obese, stupid, crass, ignorant, war mongers who have a severe chip on their shoulder because they are a race of mongrels who lack any culture of their own and spend all their time whining in the UN about other nations having weapons or throwing Israel dirty looks. Stereotypes are great aren't they?

Couldn't find much info, except that the kid was supposedly mentally disturbed, overstayed his visa by 6 months, and the involved police are being quite silent about it.

Well seen as our Government lacks the guts to even search US planes in Shannon, as is their right, I doubt they're going to send in the cavalry for one young person who may or may not have been wrongfully killed by a cop. It's only a big story here because the mother is making a lot of noise and the media are carrying the story.

Would the Irish be whinning if he was black?

Now who's racist?  Ummm, I'll have a large McSTFU with a 4 piece cryass tender.

You really think the Cops around here just run around looking for people to kill?  That is what you seem to be saying as you whine endlessly about the loss of you drunkard homeless friend.  The guy was obviously not too bright if he regularly got wasted and pounded on peoples doors.  He got himself shot by being stupid and drunk, maybe that is normal back on the Island but it didn't work out here for him.

Moral of the story:  Stupid drunk people do stupid drunk things that can end up getting their stupid drunk ass shot because stupid drunk people sometimes kill people with their stupid drunk activities and only a stupid person would think that the cop shot the stupid drunk person if he was fully cooperating and not being stupid drunk threatening.
