This whole argument is the reason "scoring" films (and other entertainment media) is bullshit.
"Movie sucks, 9.1x10^-19/10"
"Nah, best evar, 7π/10."
As the scores are reached by subjective interpretation of the medium, as opposed to a scoring rubric that the academic grading system which it is based on uses, they are meaningless.
Also "8/22.4" doesn't mean anything if you aren't saying why a movie has an "8/22.4" Instead of a score either a "plot was good but the actors didn't fit the roles" "relied too much on CGI" and "Directed by Alfred Hitchcock" actually tell people stuff about what the movie was like, and can better help them deicede whether the movie is worth their time.
Also Avatar wasn't amazing by any standards but it was still worth the $2.50 I payed to see it.
