8/10 - I have not seen the Ryan Reynolds movie yet, but can't imagine it would be anywhere near as good as this. A collection of short stories that all feel complete and entertaining, and give me that nostalgic feeling of reading Green Lantern comics as a kid, when the Green Lanterns were actually bad ass.
i watched that yesterday

I have absolutely no driving force or motivation to watch the green lantern even after being bombarded with millions of dollars worth of advertising for it.

It looks pretty cheese, and not good cheese, just the cheese you get when you don't clean your penis.
Shocking
sorry you feel that way

how come 3d movies are always so dark anyway

is it that hard to make them a bit brighter?

Walter Murch, respected film editor and sound designer in modern cinema. wrote:

The 3D image is dark, as you mentioned (about a camera stop darker) and small. Somehow the glasses "gather in" the image -- even on a huge Imax screen -- and make it seem half the scope of the same image when looked at without the glasses.

I edited one 3D film back in the 1980's -- "Captain Eo" -- and also noticed that horizontal movement will strobe much sooner in 3D than it does in 2D. This was true then, and it is still true now. It has something to do with the amount of brain power dedicated to studying the edges of things. The more conscious we are of edges, the earlier strobing kicks in.

The biggest problem with 3D, though, is the "convergence/focus" issue. A couple of the other issues -- darkness and "smallness" -- are at least theoretically solvable. But the deeper problem is that the audience must focus their eyes at the plane of the screen -- say it is 80 feet away. This is constant no matter what.

But their eyes must converge at perhaps 10 feet away, then 60 feet, then 120 feet, and so on, depending on what the illusion is. So 3D films require us to focus at one distance and converge at another. And 600 million years of evolution has never presented this problem before. All living things with eyes have always focussed and converged at the same point.

If we look at the salt shaker on the table, close to us, we focus at six feet and our eyeballs converge (tilt in) at six feet. Imagine the base of a triangle between your eyes and the apex of the triangle resting on the thing you are looking at. But then look out the window and you focus at sixty feet and converge also at sixty feet. That imaginary triangle has now "opened up" so that your lines of sight are almost -- almost -- parallel to each other.
We can do this. 3D films would not work if we couldn't. But it is like tapping your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time, difficult. So the "CPU" of our perceptual brain has to work extra hard, which is why after 20 minutes or so many people get headaches. They are doing something that 600 million years of evolution never prepared them for. This is a deep problem, which no amount of technical tweaking can fix. Nothing will fix it short of producing true "holographic" images.

Consequently, the editing of 3D films cannot be as rapid as for 2D films, because of this shifting of convergence: it takes a number of milliseconds for the brain/eye to "get" what the space of each shot is and adjust.
i just heard about an app that can take bracketed focus shots and put them together so your photo is hyper sharp ..know what dat app is?

watching "growing op" some film from 2008 lol, kinda dumb.

"this bla bla is really loving this malaysian bat guano and coffee steeped mix" lmao first of all peruvian guano is the best and bat guano is used for flowering even though the guy said he's gonna flip his plants to 18/6 which is for veg state lol.

then the girl is like "you want quality, try this mongolian hybrid" or whatever.

the only cannabis genetics that comes out of mongolia is ruderalis varieties which are weak autoflowers. only east euro has some good ones.

Captain America

well worth the watch, it was a solid good enjoyable movie

9/10 - the flow was very good, they did an ok trying to keep it grounded to the WWII era while using "futuristic" weapons from HYDRA, Evans did a good job as Rogers but I was looking for a more leadership persona

I liked seeing Neal McDonough back in WWII

stay for after the credits Spoiler (highlight to read):
opens up to Rogers on the punching bag and Fury coming up to him talking - then it begins like a mini Avengers trailer with cut scenes of everyone in Avengers

Saw HP7.2 again on a Regal RPX screen. Didn't say it was 3D (was intending to see a more brightly-colored 2D, which I'll wait for blu-ray to see now) until it was too late. I didn't really see much of an improvement over a regular RealD 3D showing, but for not much more, the seats are great. High-backed with a head pad, so don't come sleepy, or forget to drape your coat over the top before you use it. The screen itself is almost too large and the audio was turned up just above the level where I could potentially pick out any details left out by a lesser showing.

Captain America - 8/10

Lots of fun action and humor like Iron Man, but not as much character/plot development as I had hoped (whereas I do think Iron Man 1 had a decent bit of that). Basically "let's attack the base!" followed by attacking the base a second later.

casino 7/10 i FINALLY watched it all the way through after 2 times attempt in the past resulting in sleep.. i LOVE the casino atmosphere i wish they would have played up the day to day operation excitement instead of dwelling on the wife's downfall that felt like over half of the movie.  that tone was depressing.

Kill Bill 1 & 2 7/10

I wasn't crazy about either of these back when they first came out but now them I'm a bit older I appreciate them a bit more. They are pretty entertaining and are defiantly ahead of the curve when it comes to action movies.

Apocalypto 10/10
A very under rated movie. I think if it wasn't for Mel Gibsons connection with this movie it would be given way more credit than it receives. It gets extra points for it's unique setting. The chase scenes in the movie are also pretty good themselves and would still be great if they were put into other settings. Whatever you may think about Mel Gibson that's fine but you can't deny he made a masterpiece here.
