Pretty decent. The ending was a bit sudden though.
The Secret In Their Eyes - 9/10
Brilliant. My doctor had actually recommended it to me, telling me that "the 15 minutes between when they find the letters and the guy gets caught are some of the best I've seen in film, ever". Well, he was right. I don't think I've seen many shots that can rival how awesome the zoom-in shot at the soccer stadium was. Not to mention how tense the chase scene was. Whole movie took a new spin on the run of the mill crime drama and introduced some very original elements. Very satisfied with the ending as well.

Captain America:
9/10 - Right up there with the first Iron Man, X-Men First Class, Spider-Man 2, and The Dark Knight Returns as best of the Super Hero movies.

I watched Australia and I loved it so fuck you guys.
Just watched V For Vendetta for the first time.
I'd give it a solid 7/10. Would like to see it again, without all the familial distractions...feel like I missed some things, as there were many nuances throughout that make you understand the overall story.

V for Vendetta:
Corpse of a guy in a mask blows up a building to some fireworks and music. Army didn't have the balls to shoot on a giant crowd of people.

Captain America 6/10
all the best action was in a fucking 2 minute montage. Is it too much to ask for some good ole fashion nazi killin? I think the skeletor guy killed more nazis than the fucking hero.
i cant wait to be disappointed by the avengers movie.

You're forgetting the whole monolithic government part of the equation, newb. Army couldn't act because they didn't have any instructions. And that was just the end.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Cowboys and Aliens - 4/10
What a fucking disappointment. Predictable, cliche plot, shoddy acting, and one of the most ridiculous deus ex machinas ever.
It also tried way too hard to be a western with sci-fi elements. It should've stuck more to the sci-fi side, and maybe things would've been a little better.

tree of life - 7/10.
really not sure about this one, as a cannes winner. acting was good and the main section with brad pitt was a very good domestic drama. the stuff appended to either end, though, was extremely hit and miss. beautiful direction and cinematography but ridiculed and undermined by lots of 'this is profound' pretentious voice-over bollocks. also extremely slow (which i did not mind myself), and the 'climax' at the end just came across to me as wanky spiritualist pseudo babble.

Rango:
4/10 - It was bordering on a 4 or 5 for me... Then one character yells "Sign the damn paper!" and the other replies "You can go to hell!" and that was totally pointless and out of place in a "kids movie." The only thing I found particularly funny was the Fear & Loathing reference at the beginning.
Rio:
8/10 - Really enjoyed this movie and the family laughed a lot, including me. Good stuff.

Eastern Promises - 9/10
Excellent film, right up there with the best productions in the crime/drama genres. All actors are excellent, but Viggo Mortenssen delivers his best performance to date, he's unbelievably good with the Russian accent and mannerisms (as is Vincent Cassel, but his role is less demanding), in general he just nails his character. It's well filmed, and the story itself is enthralling. Character development spot on, plot depth was spot on, and the ending leaves the possibility for a much rumored sequel, usually I'm not a fan of sequels but it could definitely work in this instance. There's a very "real" feeling about this film, when it comes to putting mobsters on screen, there's a tendency to over do it, but not here.
