The last airbender - 2/10 - the visuals looked good but the acting the script the plot was fucking terrible .... TERRIBLE

From Paris with Love - 3/10 - locations was nice, john t was kinda cool and a change to see him in this kinda of character but then it got fucking stupid, it actually starting getting stupid at the 1 min mark when the tutors kid playing some aid is cruising around in a caddie escalade in paris

Mortal Kombat - 5/10 - love some of the music, some of the fights were nice, it was nice walking down memory lane and thinking about going to see it in theaters, also made me sad since I miss playing MK at arcade

it was a netflix nite

You're forgetting the whole monolithic government part of the equation, newb. Army couldn't act because they didn't have any instructions. And that was just the end.
I was being facetious. It was an ok film. The way I looked at it, the army was just as willing to not shoot their own countrymen en masse as the protesters were willing to risk their lives. Plus they were grossly outnumbered. The officer on the ground made the right call.

Watched the touched-up version on Blu-ray. I didn't really mind how they messed with it. I like both versions, and still have the old VHS box trilogy on my shelves.

surely "consistent surprise" is an oxymoron?

Upon reflection you are right, what was I thinking or perhaps I wasn't. If I had that post again "many unexpected turns" would have been a better choice of words. Let the phrase "consistent surprise" never grace my fingers nor lips again.

yes. you cannot be "consistently surprised". surprised many times, in individual scenes/moments, sure. surprised consistently? then it is no longer SURPRISE.

Exactly. The moments of surprise are consistent, but the person won't know where abouts in the film they are unless they've seen it before or are told the exact moments.

you are misunderstanding the literal meaning of the word "consistent". if something is consistent it does not stop. there is no such thing as a surprise that does not stop surprising. what is there really to argue over? his phrasing made me smile. stop being a bulldog barking up the wrong tree.

Which is sad, cause the animated series was actually REALLY good in my opinion. It was a little cheesy starting off, then the whole family ended up laughing at each episode and loving the show.

It was a consistent series of surprises.

I had no idea about the series but I did know that it was a cartoon ............. I was going in with a open mind since I did no research and only saw the trailer a few times

I hate that it was left on a cliff hanger and that there won't be anymore

this movie must have been going through alot of re-writes before and during filming

Source Code - 9.5/10

Original, vastly entertaining and an outstanding plot that leaves you satisfied while still mindfucking the shit out of you. The whole "alternate timeline" ploy has been done before, but it's never really been that successful. Probably the best movie concerning alternate universes since Donnie Darko IMO (which coincidentally also stars Jake Gyllenhaal). Even the emotional segments which I can't really get into without spoiling it felt authentic and not cliche and sappy. Gyllenhaal's character was also very well developed.

Highly recommend it. It's only 93 minutes so it's not too long, but it's very entertaining.

i should start compiling a list of bf2s film-review solecisms

this thread's amateur criticism reminds me a lot of that snooty newspaper article that posted a load of nonsensical dan brown sentences.

Half way through wind that shakes the barley.

I'm consistently surprised at how brutal the British were during the 20's.
