Just turned off 2012 a bit after Billy Hoyle bought it. This is why I never/barely go to/watch movies . What a piece of crap.

Special Forces, that French movie

T'was alright, lots of shooting etc. Dragged the story on a bit at the end. And the subtitles were pretty off... I had to guess what the intended meaning was a few times.

War Horse was a let down...
Really? I was looking forward to seeing it. Still will...
Honestly don't bother. Was expecting a gritty drama, instead sat through a cheesy, schmaltzy piece of crap, with no proper characters and a terrible script. I honestly don't see how on earth it has been rated so highly by the critics. The script really is bad, its like its been aimed at 12 year old's or something...

The way it's been portrayed in the media and the trailer is nothing whatsoever what the film is actually like.

TBF it's not a really bad film or anything, it's just not what I was expecting or hoping for at all.
Now I'm going to have to watch it just to figure out how bad it was.

Might as well go en masse with what I've been watching since Christmas.

Captain America - 7/10: Not as good as I thought it was going to be. Just seemed a little disjointed. Although Hugo Weaving was good.
Kung Fu Panda 2 - 8/10: Very funny film and great animation.
Transformers 3 - 8/10: Best of the three imo, and good to zone out to.
Rango - 9/10: Excellent film, very funny, very clever, and has some of the best animation I've seen in this kind of film yet.
True Grit - 9/10: Was pleasantly surprised with the humour in this, as well as the gritty side.
The Book of Eli - 10/10: On its own with Denzel and Gary it'd get an 8, but it's got Mila .

In Time

Meh.

I wonder how many times they said the word time in that movie.

BOOO I was REALLY looking forward to that movie and hoped it would be good (though secretly doubted it since it didn't build any buzz, and even I, who am exacted about it, has to stop and think for a minute to remember the name.)

The Bank Job: 6/10
For interest level, I would put it about an 8, but for entertainment, it is about a 6. It was slow and pretty boring overall, and I much have missed a thing or two, cause there were a couple things that happened out of the blue, and I didn't understand why, and they never explained it that I saw... BUT because it was so slow, I was also doing some research on my laptop while it was going. So in recap: Interesting story, worth watching, but long and slow.

Tintin: 9/10

Very fun movie. I loved the animation style, it was fun seeing a childhood favorite come to life. Hopefully the next movie includes Tintin In The Congo lololololol.

You didn't feel a need for more closure than the ending provided?

i watched city of god the other night because it's in a few top 100 lists

it was good and it's nice that they aren't professional actors and that they're all being helped out of the slums and ghettos but I don't think that catapults the film into the "top 100 films ever made" list on imdb. rate a film on it's own merits, not because it did some real good in the world.

It was decent enough but there was just no sense of closure. Am I supposed to believe a tribe of apes with near human intelligence and the ability to speak fucking English are just going to be left alone to frolick in some american forest? No, they're not are they.

i vaguely remember, i watched it a while back and that post above was just a quote from what i said when i watched it. it wasn't really that memorable. It's one of those films that at the time you think "yeah, decent!" and then 3 months lately you barely remember anything about it and slap a 6/10 rating on.

Real Steel: I am actually embarrassed to admit it: 8/10

I expected this movie to SUCK. I thought it looked pretty bad by the reviews. I could not believe they were basically making a Rock em Sock em robots movie.

I liked it... I really enjoyed it... Other than a couple of "techie" issues with how they did a couple things:
Spoiler (highlight to read):

I mean seriously, he can mimic your movements by looking at you, but you expect me to believe he can see you while dancing around and around a ring, with a giant bot between you and him, but when the kid moved behind him while learning to dance, the robot just stops because it can't "see" him anymore? Also, how could voice command EVER be faster than a controller? In the amount of time it takes me to say "right uppercut" I could have executed a Mortal Kombat Fatality...

But a little suspended belief and it was actually a really enjoyable movie... And suitable to watch with the kids, meaning I saw it twice in 2 days and still liked it, and I can usually barely stand to watch a movie twice in 6 months...
