A friend sent me this story, very short and it sums it all up pretty well.

> Republican.

> I remember the time that Catherine, one of my daughter Shannon's friends when
> she was little, told me that she wanted to be President

> us - and I asked Catherine, "If you were President what
> would be the first thing you would do?"
>
> Catherine replied, "I would give houses to all the homeless people"
>
> "Wow, what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine." I told her, "You don't have
> to wait until you are President to do that, you can
> come over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and I will
> pay you $5. Then we can go over to the grocery store
> where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 to use for a new

>
> Catherine, who was about 4, thought that over for a second, while her mom looked
> at me, and Catherine replied, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and clean

>
> Welcome to the Republican Party, Catherine.

Yep. A four year has the ideals of a Democrat, yet thinks of achieving them like a Republican.

Says a lot.

I would have hired the homeless guys for 5 bucks, killed them, and taken my money back. $5 profit

Typical Republican assumptions don't seem valid in that situation. Most homeless people are mentally ill. You have to be pretty hardcore to insist that a guy who hallucinates and hears voices take responsibility for himself.

I see lowing still labours under the delusion that Democrats are not advocates of personal responsibility. Oh well, a leopard never changes its spots I suppose. And he calls the Republicans 'responsible'? Have you seen the US budget deficit? Living beyond your means much?

The only reason there has been an upswing under Bush II is probably because the dollar has become worthless, due to fiscal irresponsibility.

Anyone who pins his colours hard and fast to one political party's mast is an idiot. Different socio-economic situations call for different political solutions as they arise. No party is fit for all scenarios.

$5 for cleaning up what is clearly a serious mess of dog shit?  Fuck that!  Still, if its 5 bucks the girl/homeless guy wouldn't otherwise have...

You should know by now Cam that being homeless is something one chooses to be because the lazy gene rules the brain ... it really is despicable that some people want to use a tiny amount of money to better their situation ... utterly tasteless to even think about it

typical right winged fucking nonsense they always have to give it all away..  more like earn your 5$ give the poor homeless guy 40 cents of your five dollars and you enjoy the rest of your 4.60$ knowing that you have done your part to help the less fortunate in your society..

The government budget deficit has little to do with personal responsibility because it is primarily influenced by the collective actions of the legislative and executive branches of government. That's thousands of people.

Moreover, the government budget deficit has little to do with any kind of responsibility in the first place. As a wise man once said, different socio-economic situations call for different political solutions as they arise. Sometimes a government can produce tremendous benefits for society only by spending beyond its means. Without defending anything any Republican President or congress has done, it's safe to say the history of federal budget deficits under Republican Presidents is not relevant to lowing's post about personal responsibility.

I am amused as to how offended you get by the shear notion that a person actually earned the 5 bucks instead of it just being given to him..lol

Pointless. 5 dollars will get him nowhere. Probably just more weed and whiskey. But really, money is worthless nowadays, nothing more than paper with numbers.

The offence is from the fact the Republican Party is certainly not the lone bastion of personal responsibility. A party that has spent beyond its means and crippled America's economy and rendered the dollar worthless. Responsible? I think not.

LOL, this is not a topic of NATIONAL Fiscal responsibility.....It is a topic of personl values and beliefs. This short little story simply challenges yours.

None of you would dare say, yeah ask the homeless guy if he wants to EARN 5 bucks, you simply are disgusted and set back that one would even ask. lol

I think not lowing ... we are disgusted at a system and believes that this is a homeless person because he or she choosed to be homeless ...

Your story is funny but not unique, these kinds of stories excists for all kinds of religions and political views so it really doesn't sum up anything else than proving there are stereotypes for all kinds of believes ...

Sorry, if the homeless guy is strong enough to STAND outside a store, he is strong enough to SIT in a classroom..........Apparently you believe we are not products of our choices in life. We are all merely lucky and unlucky with no rhyme or reason to any of it...........Well...............I disagree.
