Im back (from the ER, but im back in one piece) and ive got my first build . Now i need a new monitor because im using my "14 from the

old Windows 3.1 days . Anyways, this is the monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6824009129

And this is my build:

   *AMD E5660-Athlon X2
   *Ram- 2 gig of 800
   *BFG 8500gt
*Abit mobo (forget the specs). And with one PCI E x16 and one PCI E x1.
   *380 watt power supply
*500gig hard drive (took forever to partition )

I decided on the 1280x1024 monitor because i dont have room for the 1600x1200 monitor and Bf2 doesnt run in 1440x900. So...

Bf2 runs all high with no anti-aliasing for best fps. I expected more from the 8500gt card, and im afraid that with a bigger monitor I will have to drop the graphics down. Should I move up to a 8800gt (something somewhat cheap) or do you think I can get by on a 8500gt? Thanx

Yes, by all means get a new video card.  If you do choose to get a new one, my choice would be the 8800gt.  The prices are dropping like stones, and perform great.

btw, wtf is a E5660-Athlon X2?

Sorry, its a 2.80 (thought the device manager said 2.88) dual core Athlon X2. I probably didnt state it right--im new with AMD and dont know how to write them right.

So apart from my mistake, how much more a speed and processing boost would I get from upgrading to a 8800gt? Would it be worth buying

price-performance-wise?

I ran the game all high full AA with a self-overclocked 8600GT which you could pick for about $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi … e+8600+GT.

Then again you might want to pick some more futureproof card, this is a good option for $100: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814125086

Yes. It's like going from a plastic necklace to a gold one with an 40 18-karat diamonds in it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814121223 is the cheapest one worth buying tbh.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

This is the one I got, but XFX is no good at all on the rebate, don't even bother.
