wow, come to think of it i did just kill a jet (or heli ) when i go t the badge for him , hmmmmmmmmmmmm thanks

you need like 11 kills with it if i remember URBAR correctly, remember commander arty kills count as well.

I was at fushe pass on the usmc team, sat in the stinger(next to helo pad) for what I thought was 10 mins,killing nothing,jumped out basically giving up.
jumped in the aa vehicle sitting there,started cruising up the pass and bingo ! was awarded the basic air defense badge...
key is to just be patient,stay in the stinger for a bit,if your ass gets tired of sitting there,jump in the aa vehicle.just dont get killed after all the time in each,as you will have to start all over !!

Hi mate,

I had the same issue with the basic ground defense badge (sit in TOW/MG for 5 mins).
Basically I sat in the TOW for 5 mins (which was boring) and nothing happened...
so I sat in it for another 5 mins and nothing happenned.
Then I got off the thing and went to join in the fighting and voila, 20 secs later I got
awarded the badge.

I believe the stats server gets updated with :
1) the time you started sitting in the Stinger or mobile AA
2) the time when you leave it
then it works out the time diference and will award you the badge.

The important thing is for you to leave the Stinger or mobile AA after you have been
in it for the required time. (Sounds like this is what happened to KillerYaNk).

I didn't kill anybody, I died two or three times and I didn't leave it after I met the required time.
I recommend to sit in it as commander. So you get points and not wasting time.

Be the Chinese team and mow down jets and helis coming up from the carriers at Dragon Valley, once you get 11, just sit at a secluded AA for 10 min unless you're already close to the required time.

If your lucky you can get a 4+ person Blackhawk.

I sat in an IGLA for about 20 mins still no go, also I sat in the AA in front of the SAS uncappable at Ghost Town for 20 mins still no go.  Do the IGLA's even count or is it STINGER or AA vehicle ONLY?

Try it again on a couple of different servers.  I've heard of some servers not reporting properly, in which case you won't get your badge.

For the AA basic badge, I played on Oman, which has a huge number of Stinger and IGLA sites, you can move from one to another as the flags get captured and you can still remain at least somewhat productive.

For the AA ribbon, I picked it up on a Daqing map.  The other side was really enthusiastic about keeping their 'planes and chopper in the air, and the map has a couple of AA vehicle spawn sites on it, so I just kept jumping into [insert name of Chinese AA vehicle here, PGZ-95, perhaps?] and blazing away.  Probably not a bad way to get the basic medal either.  And you can have fun mowing down infantry and tearing up the light vehicles while you're waiting for another aircraft to come by looking for a few missiles.

And this will probably get you both the ribbon and the badge in the same round.
