Reducing AVI file size

I forgot how I got my first vid on youtube...erm...I have an AVI but when I tried to use VDub to compress it it turned into crap (quality) for a total of 25 mbs....Does anyone know a good free avi-flv converter or...how should I reduce my current file? It's like half a gig and it's like 2 1/2 minutes long. Not very nice. Karmaz for halp -Noobpatty

Uhh...that's what I made it with and it ended up to be 500+ mgbs of 2 minute AVI video.

Not if you resave it in a different format. But quality will always suffer when compressing, regardless.

Wow thats a lot. How long is it and what did you export it as? (WMV 2.0mpbs, 1.0mpbs, etc)

If you want to put it in youtube? Gah, you'd barely need 4-500 kb/s for that.

In any case, I suggest you look in to a DivX/Xvid tutorial for VDub. VDub, with a short learning curve, is all you'll ever need.
