This reminds me of an episode of The Office where someone made a written complaint about the bathrooms at Dunder Mifflin Scranton are segregated.  When confronted, Creed mentioned the symbol of the white man or white woman on the black background sign on the bathroom door thinking it meant whites only.

In our PC reality, it wouldn't be a surprise if that were addressed and required to have multi-colored people "stick figures" on such signage.

As for the OP's "men at work" being removed, I understand it represents some femenist struggle for some, but in the end, it isn't that big of a deal..in fact I think political correctness gets a bit more of a bad wrap than it deserves.  Were it not so, can you imagine some of the language we'd have?  Imagine a court of law where code is being explained in a charge to the defendant of "..6 acts of tom-foolery, 3 counts of butt-holing, and 1 charge of being a houligan!!!"

In short, there DOES have to be an evolution of our language in some cases.  Just because some of the changes simplify or result in a more proper portrayal of verbiage, doesn't mean it's Fascism and tree-hugging protestors pushing an agenda (though many times it is that!).

Not being able to call a blackboard a blackboard, not allowed to sing baa-baa black sheep in nurseries/schools, I could go on.

In a FEMA training I took, I learned that after Katrina, you could not refer to a home with 3 dead people as "3 blacks."  It is now written as a "V" with a line through it, or spoken as "3 unsalvagables" referring to the green, yellow, red, and black color coded system of triage/SAR/home clearing, whatever.  I guess some sensitive people heard or saw that designation on TV or on homes and thought FEMA personnel were being racist or insensitive to the deaths of blacks.

For me, I'd have explained the color coded system and told whoever complained to STFU..we're in the business of saving lives!

LOL pussification.

What if they made the signs out of cigars and motorcycle chains lowing?  Would that result in less pussification?

Why should I care what the construction signs in Atlanta say again?
The only part you should care about is the added expense of having to put up new signs just because bitchy feminists want new ones.  As a taxpayer, I would be rather annoyed at having additional expenses thrown in to appease histrionic fools.

No Ken,

It is a pussification because we are going to spend millions in order to not hurt someones feelings over a sign that says men at work, instead of some gender neutral sign.

Do we really not have anything else in our country that could stand more attention than this? Do women's rights groups not have anything better to complain about and to do other than force the tax payers to flip the bill for stupid shit like this? How about we dump this money into a children research hospital or something?

You shouldn't. I don't see the big deal. It doesn't hurt anybody, and it gets the women to stop whining.

I think the real issue here is what were those women who complained doing out of the kitchen in the first place?

When was the last time you saw a chick on a road work/construction crew?

Seriously, I have never seen one.
In the past 2 years I don't think I've seen a road works that didn't have a chick as the lolipop holder. And in most cases they're also pretty hot. I have never seen them doing anything else though... but then I never see the guys doing anything either.
