Fact.  The US Soldiers prevented him from dying.  How is that not being considered borrowed time?  The kid was as good as dead.  It is arrogance, ignorance, and utter stupidity to argue against.  The fact that if the Government hasn't gone forward with the case shows that their unwillingness to sentence him to life wrongly.  Rather them take a few years or the life?

And yes it was compassionate for them to save his life... not so much to toss him in Gitmo while he was still classed as a child under the law.  This is what I mean, circumvent the law because the government sees fit.  If someone else did it it would be a criminal act but it's the US GOV so "all's well mate!"

Blackwater is simply a state sanctioned terrorist group.  No one and nothing will EVER change my view on that.

Not spin, fact.  Engagements between combat forces result in kills, whether one side are terrorists or not.  if a soldier kills a terrorist you will see it on the report as a kill, not a murder.  If a terrorist kills a soldier during fighting it is reported as a kill as well.

An illegal kill is a murder.  You shoot an unarmed civilian and you should get charged... BW worked with almost total impunity.

I said no one would change my mind on Blackwater.  Not the same as being rigid about everything.

Truth is you had a post a while back about the price of food that I agreed with completely, just some of your views on human rights are so obscene to my views that I will never accept them.  I just don't have the hate you seem to have, or at the least show in what you write.

And just for the sake of disclosure, I am nearly 40, have been in the military and have traveled all over the world.  I have lost close friends and family in combat so please don't think I am some liberal hippy.  Just that I realized a few years ago that the hate, violence, and pain that comes with what you advocate simply isn't worth it.

Mercenaries have always been around but I've not known my country to use them.  maybe they have, I don't know.  I do know that some members of JTF2 are now working as contractors in Iraq.  I really wish they weren't but that is their choice.  All choices come with consequences though and I fear these people haven't thought that through.

My issue with BW is that no one has been charged for the illegal kills.  I know at least one reg soldier who was charged for illegal kills so why is BW above the law?  They are protected by the state is my only conclusion.  I see that as state sanctioned terrorism.
