I'd like to think that possibly, someday this rainbow picture could come true.  unfortunately I live in the real world and I know that some fat ass group of congressmen would shoot it down.

I found the Legislative portion of the article particularly interesting.  Too bad none of it would ever get past a republican filibuster.

ya...." The two main strategic questions the plan seeks to answer are:

    * How to bring American military engagement in Iraq to a responsible end?
    * How to prevent a repeat of mistakes that have been made?

The plan attempts to present a combined military, diplomatic, and economic strategy to end the war in Iraq. It cites various ISG recommendations and lists a number of existing, but stalled bills in Congress that address multiple areas of focus."

what this is is leftist liberal agenda disguised as a bill/entry cited by wikipedia used on blogs to make the left seem like the good guys.

Just wanted to get that straight.

The left has always been about getting out at all cost and the right as always been about winning at all costs.
The articles states that from day one we have been looking for a way out and I would submit that is just not true.

53 abstained?

if my tax dollars pay your salary, get back to fucking work!

I really despise the way our government operates, if it was in any other business, it would have gone bankrupt and been investigated for fraud decades ago.

Of course, congress would never investigate itself...

Well, wouldn't that be something.

Imagine if one of the fallouts from the iraq war is that law is passed so that the haliburtons of the world doesn't have undue sway on wars.

Sure, Cheney dumped his Haliburton stocks when he got elected.
We all know politicians never get compensated through back door channels for favors. https://i15.tinypic.com/2nlr1fl.gif

I remember at the time, it was like; Chenely dumps his Haliburton stock so that he can't have a conflict of interest. Like they knew the money Haliburton was going to make would be an issue, not because of ties to Cheney, but because of the billions in revenue to come.

First I inadvertently linked to a specific bill. I was just trying to say I liked the layout at http://www.opencongress.org/ when it came to looking at who voted for what. Secondly Cheney did not "dump" his stock. He donated all future profits to charity. Thirdly, drop the rhetoric and give me more than speculation.

Are there certain "favors".. I'm sure. Does a politician at that level ever have to worry about money with or with out war? No.

I highly recommend a documentary for you called "Bush's War".  It was made by PBS and has a SURPRISINGLY large amount of "high ups" doing the interviews.  I have watched it on youtube in high quality.  It is worth checking out and I think you would enjoy it.
