I lost my best friend today.

I know there were five other souls on board that jet, but only one was best man at my wedding.

He leaves behind two beautiful children who now will either be raised by their grandmother or his psycho ex-wife. I hope to God it's the former.

Closest thing I've ever had to a brother...and he's taken from us so quickly, so unexpectedly. On a training mission.

Our circle of friends is alternating between disbelief and utter sorrow.

I don't even know what to say at this point.

I think I'll just drink myself to sleep and see if tomorrow is any better.

Two very good friends dead in three years, both in aircraft accidents.

Why did I type this? Next time you're having a drink, please raise one for Brent. He was truly worthy, even if you never knew him.

that sucks. all I can say is at least he died doing what he loved. I mean, he didnt die of cancer or something painful like that. He died being in an airplane and serving his country. So, I raise my beer.

The FEOS family is on the road tomorrow AM. My buddy's body comes home on Tuesday. Funeral on Wednesday. Our group from college will be together for the first time since we graduated. And the guy we're honoring was the one who said "The next time we all get together is going to be when one of us dies".

Not yet. Those jets don't have black boxes (too old) and the wreckage is in roughly 18000 feet of water. Supposedly the Navy is trying to recover some of it with deep sea salvage, but we've heard nothing yet.
