should work nicely. BF2 isn't really a demanding game
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

It will run BF2 maxed. No question about it.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yeah it'll do BF2 fine. Hell it'll run CoD4 maxed as long as you keep the AA down to 2x and you don't have a gigantic screen.

EDIT: Actually just noticed that's only the 256MB one, that might struggle with CoD4's chunky textures (it'll still piss on BF2 tho).

Not really. I put a 8600GT with 256 in my bro's comp in December and was able to run CoD4 with max specs. Also had 4GB RAM, too.

If you're gonna get it, register the warranty for it because according to an article I recently read, it's gonna shit the bed in the near future because nVidia uses crappy solder and other materials for the 8-series (8800 excluded).

I got this one:

Same with some of the 7 series. The 7600gt in particular, doesn't last much longer than a year of frequent use.

Ah so that could be why my 8600GTS failed... well got an 8800GS in return, so I don't really complain.

It's probably because 7900s are high end.  8800s don't have the death problem that other 8-series ones do.

I've had the same card for 2 years? I forget, but it's running fine. Noisy fan though.
