Trying to get a friends computer to work again.
Beginning Friend turns off computer only to return later to a BSOD (not sure if it shutdown completely or not). Message was something along the line of and Error in Windows\System32\.
Someone took the system disk and ran the repair in the recovery prompt.
Now the computer boots straight to the "An Error occurred . . start in Safe Mode yada yada.
Start in safe mode goes directly to BSOD with the IRQL not less or equal BUT,
Start in safe mode to command prompt goes to ntoskrnl.exe error and must be fixed.
Found a fix on google for the ntoskrnl.exe http://www.ozzu.com/mswindows-forum/nto … 24580.html
Followed those instructions and at the copy step i get an access denied and that is as far as I can go.
Dell laptop with Windows Media Center
Help
Edit*
additional info when going into the recovery panel there are 2 partions C: and F: I can get into F:, but C: is admin password protected. My friend says no password was needed to use the computer when it was working.
