Yeah, good point. I'm not so optimistic for the rest of the season.

meh, i still dont even know what to expect from us. that was a hell of a tough game for cox to start on the road for his first real game, especially with the flu-like symptoms. well get a much better idea vs sc next weekend

and hopefully we can avoid some of those bs calls

Yeah, that is also a good point. I'm not sure if Boise State was a great barometer for Oregon either, considering the home field advantage and psychological edge BSU had in the game.

BS calls? It's never good when you lose badly because of that. I know BSU got a couple against Oregon, but they weren't significant. Were those in the UGA-OSU game worse? I didn't watch it, so sadly I don't know.

not going to blame the loss on the calls because we played like crap but there were at least 3 or 4 absolutely horrendous calls made throughout that game that changed the momentum each time

Ah, I see. Were they the ubiquitous phantom pass interference calls?

Well, we're still not sure exactly what we got this year since everything is basically new ... we've got 11 freshmen on our 2-deep ... that's unheard of in the SEC.

Fulmer left a neglected house.

We'll find out much more when UCLA visits on Saturday, and then (hopefully) we can keep it close with the gayturds in the swamp (they looked a little too relaxed tonight).

surprisingly no. it was really just one horrible late hit call that kept their drive alive when it was 17-10. they scored shortly after that

Oh, yuck. Same effect as a phantom pass interference call, really, and just as stupid.

Lol, ranked 20th and validated it. And they don't have to be a BCS contender, just a team with a semblance of a pulse. If Texas tried manly scheduling, they wouldn't have been excluded from the Big 12 CCG and BCS NCG last season.

Yeah looks like it worked real great for OU this season. The BCS ranking is retarded and should just be done away with.

Besides, it's not like UT needs to increase it's strength of schedule. OU, OSU, Tech are all top 10 aren't they? Then mizzou, and even the A+M rivalry.. Sure they play cupcake nonconference teams, but teams like USC play cupcake conference teams.

Well, no. The current system is inconsistent in its rewards for scheduling, though.  The whole point of scheduling cupcakes is to avoid losses, and if you successfully do this, then the polls ignore it and keep you ranked highly. Once you lose and are compared against other teams that have also lost, schedule strength is used to differentiate the teams.

And yes, they do. Nothing necessarily makes OU, OSU, and TTU top ten teams - they of the 0-3 bowl record last season. When you combine high preseason expectations (i.e. a perception incongruous with reality) with easy wins, you get the fallacious notion all the teams are good, because their victories seemingly validate the preseason ranking. Consequently, when the teams lose to each other, their rankings don't fall, because they lost to a supposed "quality" team. This continues throughout the season with any subsequent matchups and losses. Missouri is a midlevel team, but A&M? I don't really care if it's a rivalry game. It's still a joke. And what about Baylor or Iowa State? It's not as if the entirety of the Big 12 attains decency. And regarding the Pac-10, Oregon State, Cal and Oregon provide the same challenge to USC that the aforementioned provide to UT. Even if UW and WSU were cupcakes last year, Washington could easily have been 3-9 (had they scheduled like Texas), which would, as you really can't deny, have made the game less laughable that is was.

Whoever's playing ND gets my support...unless it's UT.
