I am definitely not the most computer literate person when it comes to hardware.  I want to build a new rig, but the only I think I have decided on is getting the 4870 video card.  I do know that I would like a crossfire compatible motherboard, as I will probably add another 4870 at some point in the future.

Components that I think I need:  Case, Power Supply, Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Video Card, Motherboard, CPU, RAM.  Did I forget anything?  I will keep my keyboard, mouse, moniter & speakers from old PC.  Suggestions are appreciated as to what I should get.  I would like to keep my new rig around $1000.  Thanks for any help.

E7200, GA-P35-DS3L or some X38 for CF, 2-4GB Corsair/OCZ RAM, Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD, P180/182, HX520/620, any random $20 SATA DVD drive, 4870.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Things to consider:

-Comes a tad over $1000 with mail-in-rebates
-If you do not think you need 750GB of storage, switch to a 500GB Spinpoint F1
-This motherboard along with this PSU leaves you with the chance to get another 4870 for Crossfire later if more performance is needed
-I take it you do not need an Operating System?

Maximus formula flash is not really needed unless one wants to go extreme on overclocking.
