No, at worst you could think the bus hit someone and decapitated them in Canada.GodFather wrote:

Was anyone else expecting some bus thinking for itself and attacking people in Canada?
(I know it sounds out there, but remember, it is Canada...)

You guys have as much reason to believe I would run away as I know I would try to help. There is no more reason to call me a coward as there is for me to say I would help.
If you were the one being attacked, can any of you honestly say you would not want anyone to at least do something? Do unto others...
If everyone thinks like that, it would be a really shitty world. There have to be people that will help their fellow man at a moment's notice, or society would quickly descend into anarchy. Think about it. If the only people helping others are either paid to do so or family, what really is safety in numbers? What is to stop someone stabbing someone else in the middle of a crowded mall?
Western societies only work because people take at least some small responsibility of everyone else. Without that responsibility, that mutual trust, everything crumbles.
I'd help out if I saw a normal fight or whatever, but like most people, if I saw a knife I would get away from it, I would not put my life on the line for a complete stranger. I'm not saying I deserve to live more than said stranger, but I'm not gonna lose my life for someone I have absolutely no connection to.
Also I think you've completely missed the point. I said I'd want someone to help me if I was in that situation, but I would never EXPECT them to put their life on the line for me when I mean nothing to them. I've been in a few fights in my time (not started by me), when friends aren't there, no-one else tends to stand in for me, because they wont risk gettin hurt for someone they dont know/care about. Thats fine, because I wouldnt expect them to, who am I to them? No-one. However, when friends are there, I would expet them to stand up for me, and they have done. Thats because they know me and to them I'm worth the risk of getting hurt, but I'm not to the man on the street.
Fair point bennis, you could walk off a beating well most of them but stabbage that's a different story.bennisboy wrote:

If you have the right of way on the street, you expect cars to stop for you. If you have a verbal agreement with someone, you expect them to follow through. If you are someone's longtime friend, you expect them to help you out in a pinch.
In all of these cases there are written or unwritten rules that are supposed to be followed. It's more or less a requirement to act in the expected way. That does not mean in other cases you shouldn't act, even without an expectation. If an old lady needs help with her groceries at the store because the store is understaffed, there is no expectation for you to help her, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Not to join in on the flame fest and what was logical at the time
but has anyone thought the fact as to how hard it would be to confront a large person with a hunting knife in a probably single file/lane BUS? he could easily just stab the first few people who would try to do anything

The bus had I think 36 people on it. There were people very close to him, in front of him and behind him, and he was turned to the side stabbing the guy. He wasn't standing up, blocking the aisle in a defensive position.
I think your confusing this guy with someone whos sane and wouldn't want to stab themselves by mistake, I can definately see the guy stabbing randomly behind him if someone grabbed him, whether it cause injury to himself or not.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

I'm not saying he isn't violent, only that the supposed easily defensible situation is a joke.Vilham wrote:

again;
a crazy person CAN BE just as effective as a sane person with a knife.
but this will fall on deaf ears.

The bus however is pretty equal footing.

you STILL dont get it. the knife is a FUCKING FORCE MULTIPLIER!
it makes the bus UNEQUAL footing. if it were a fist fight, it would have been EQUAL. a knife makes it unequal PERIOD....even if it were in a parking lot. the bus only serves to make the situation more difficult.
again, i will go back to your reference of bum rushing a knife.
maybe rather effective against someone unarmed, but not against someone with a HUNTING KNIFE.
we arent talking about a spork here

I know, the knife changes the odds. The footing of the bus itself is pretty even, unlike what the guy a couple posts up was saying.Parker wrote:

For the record I did say I would have had a knife with me, as I'm sure many people there did. My dad always carries a knife with him, as do both of my grandfathers. Not for a weapon or some shit, just because it's a useful tool to have around, but still.
Seems to be a trendy thing these days.

Same thing happened in Greece. Some guy stabbed and decapitated his girlfriend's head and paraded it with it through the street.

call me a crazy internet toughguy but I know that I would kick his head in. Even so I don't think I could live properly with myself knowing that I let someone be decapitated. Sure risk your life for a corpse, want to see the parents faces at the funeral? son's head stitched back up?
I'm theorizing here because I've never been in THAT a scary situation though.
Btw, what parker said; I do classify it as instant death, it's true that if you hit someone's artery through the gut that they'll just lose conciousness and bleed to death. Heck, you'd be unconcious and dead before you wake up. (the bleeding takes seconds). Hence, they're already "dead" before they hit the ground.
GS; that it took so long for those guys you saw to die with huge holes in their gut; as you said the wound was scorched, little to no blood. Their arteries wouldn't throw out any blood either I guess because well, they're burned.
No blood loss from burned skin. Sad for them though, that'd be an immensily painful death.

Nevertheless I don't think you are trying to rationalize the moment someone next to you starts to stab someone else "Hey wait, he's been stabbed.. 4 times already - he's done for make a run for it"jord wrote:
